Remember when a certain presidential candidate couldn’t recall how many houses he owned and Democrats used it to make him seem out of touch? Well Mitt Romney is way richer than John McCain. When public documents filed with the city of San Diego revealed that planned renovations to the 2012 Republican presidential nominee’s 11,000 square-foot La Jolla mansion included a space-saving “car elevator,” liberals — and the Internet — couldn’t get enough. The jokes at Romney’s expense continued for weeks because, hey, most American homes don’t have a people elevator, let alone one for cars.
