When public documents filed with the city of San Diego revealed that planned renovations to the 2012 Republican presidential nominee’s 11,000 square-foot La Jolla mansion included a space-saving “car elevator,” liberals — and the Internet — couldn’t get enough. The jokes at Romney’s expense continued for weeks because, hey, most American homes don’t have a people elevator, let alone one for cars.
