As much as we might like to, TIME can’t take sole credit for the proliferation of Internet jokes about Paul Ryan’s workout routine. We did post some spectacular pictures of the congressman turned vice presidential candidate flexing (complete with backwards baseball cap), but P90x — Ryan’s workout of choice — was catching on before TIME’s photographers turned their lenses on Romney’s No. 2 (last December, long before he was named the running mate). Other members of Congress rave about it, and Ryan’s love affair with the P90x was featured on The Today Show in August.
