The founder of Tupperware heeded the one-word advice, “Plastics,“ long before the line was famously delivered in the 1967 film The Graduate. Not only did he found the company famed for its “wonderbowl” with the patented burping seal, he also invented a boat powered by fish and pants that never lost their crease. He eventually sold the company he built around his more successful idea and bought an island off the coast of Costa Rica. He renounced his U.S. citizenship to avoid paying U.S. taxes.
