Mitt Romney accepted an apology from MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry, who along with other panelists on her show made remarks about his adopted African American grandchild.

“I think it’s a heartfelt apology, and I think for that reason we hold no ill will whatsoever,” the former Republican presidential candidate said on Fox News Sunday.

“I think people recognize, and the folks at MSNBC who have apologized recognize, people like me are fair targets: If you get in the political game, you can expect incoming,” he said. “For children, that’s beyond the line. I think they understand that and feel that as well.”

Harris-Perry offered a tearful apology Saturday for making fun of a Romney photo and pointing out his black grandchild. The segment set off public outrage online, prompting the MSNBC host to apologize both on Twitter and on-air.
