Mitt Romney says he agrees with the House Republicans’ goal of repealing President Barack Obama’s health care law, but disagrees that using the threat of a government shutdown is the way to achieve it.

“We’re more effective tactically not to use a shutdown of some kind to pursue the… anti-Obamacare objective,” the 2012 GOP presidential nominee told CNN in an interview airing Friday.

Romney said he prefers delaying the law’s implementation for a year, and focusing on electing more Republicans to Congress.

But he also applaud Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz for his 21-hour “quasi filibuster,” saying that it “brought attention to a very important issue.”
