Home in the Hills

Early Trials

Political Legacy

Mitt and Ann

Family and Career Take Off

In 1975 Romney graduated with honors from Harvard's joint law and business program. After a brief stint at Boston Consulting Group, Romney went to work for Bain & Co. in 1977.
Bain Days

Into the Lion's Den

His first foray into politics was an ambitious one: he challenged Ted Kennedy, the U.S. Senate's iconic Liberal Lion, in the 1994 election in Massachusetts. Despite a wave of Republican victories in Congress, the Democratic icon thoroughly defeated Romney, 58%- 41%.
Olympic Champion

Governor Romney

Romney signs a landmark health care reform bill into law on April 12, 2006, during a ceremony at Faneuil Hall, in Boston. Designed around an individual health insurance mandate, Romney's efforts to overhaul Massachusetts' medical system later served as a model for Democrats' national reforms in 2010.
