The Palin Chronicles

This Sunday’s New York Times magazine features a long “is she running?” story about Sarah Palin, by the estimable Robert Draper. I haven’t had a chance read it yet, but here’s a taste:

“I am,” Sarah Palin told me the next day when I asked her if she was already weighing a run for president. “I’m engaged in the internal deliberations candidly, and having that discussion with my family, because my family is the most important consideration here.” Palin went on to say that there weren’t meaningful differences in policy among the field of G.O.P. hopefuls “but that in fact there’s more to the presidency than that” and that her decision would involve evaluating whether she could bring unique qualities to the table.

One person who has read the story, however, is the Weekly Standard‘s Matthew Continetti, author of a book about the “elite” media’s “persecution” of Palin. And Continetti decrees Draper’s piece fair and balanced, even “relatively sympathetic.”

Obama’s Persuasive Powers on Gay Marriage Manifest in Maryland

When President Obama endorsed gay marriage earlier this month, the media grappled with two basic political questions: Was his personal “evolution” a case of  a politician transparently following a national trend toward accepting same-sex unions (accelerated, perhaps, by his chatty number two), and would it hurt his re-election chances by alienating socially conservative voters like black churchgoers? Sure, there was a recognition that it marked a gratifying moment for gay marriage advocates—as well as some grumbling about the President’s view that it remains a state issue, not a federal one. But by and large, there were few suggestions that one man, even the President, would shift public opinion on the issue or affect public policy. Based on a new Public Policy Polling survey out of Maryland, it seems this possibility was underestimated.

    Cherokee Zero

Apparently, Massachusetts voters don’t mind that Elizabeth Warren foolishly identified herself as a Native American early in her academic career–it was, apparently, a case of family pride and wishful thinking about a Cherokee ancestor. That’s good. Warren may be the best public figure when it comes to explaining the depredations of the financial industry and [...]

Thanks, MC. I’m betting she runs. The temptation is too much and she tends to “quit upward” (leave a job – like gov. – for something pricier and shinier). Since, our intrepid Jay Newton-Small once interviewed Sarah, maybe she can get a rare non-FOX interview and just ask Sarah outright if she’ll run + easy thoughts like how to create jobs w/ Tea Party ideas. Jay’s questions and follow-ups can be gosh-darned easy; Sarah tends to trip up on simple stuff (like newspapers, etc.).

She’ll run, get her @ss handed to her during the primaries and somehow it’ll be the media and liberals fault.

The Palins are a bunch of uncultured country bumpkins hillbillies. They have no decent education, no social class, no fine taste, no decent family pedigree. They are a bunch of stinking trash.

People like us are highly educated, highly cultured, highly developed, well-born, well-nurtured and well-bred should never be allowed to be led by those Wasilly trash. America is the land Of the Best, By the Best, and For the Best. We are simply the Best and those filthy trash like the Palins are simply the worst.

America has become such a great country because we have never allowed cheap serfs like those Wasilly Hillbilily ever become our leaders. India becomes a great civilisation because they keep those uncultured Untouchables caste at the bottom of the society. We should continue to follow the great foot-steps of our Indian mentors to suppress those untouchable Wasilly Hillbilly at the very bottom of our feet forever. Low-life Hillbillies like the Palins are only worthy to clean my toilets and polish me loos.

I am utterly disgusted by these Untouchables trash.

If the media really wanted to be cruel to the Queen of Quit, they would ignore her. That’s the only kind of coverage that would genuinely cause her pain.

No – spineless democrats that keeps running away from good policy and a abysmal economy. I don’t need to pretend it is something else than the reality of our times. And no, it wasn’t ‘America is tired of the socialistic agenda’. If thats true a large part of the electorate are just plain ignorant. And I hate to believe that we’re that ignorant.

    Elvis,

I’m sure it’s a spoof of this guys attempt to paint why we think Palin is a poor choice as a president. We do it because they”re ‘trash’ and we’re elitists.
    .
What else can it be? Like the fact she’s intellectually incurious that have to read 30 years of basic republican policy from the inside of her palm. Or the fact that she can see Russia from her porch or something like that. They have reduced Obama to a bumbling fool that need teleprompters (like the rest of them) to deliver a speech, but the palmreader is mama grizzlie average person.

Maybe “The Palins Are a Pain, Sarah, Chronicled”?

I hope ol’ Sarah runs. I even hope she wins the nomination. Heck, if she runs, I’ll change parties and even campaign for her. I’ll quit my job (or take an extended leave of absence) and travel around the country fighting for Sarah Palin to get the GOP nomination.
    .
Even though so many righties simply hate Obama; moderates think he’s gone too far on some things, not far enough on others; and progressives see Obama as weak for constantly negotiating against himself, having Sarah as the Gop nom., will mean a cakewalk in Nov. 2012 for Obama.
