“Well if you look at one of our Founding Fathers, John Quincy Adams, that’s absolutely true.” –Michele Bachmann, in an ABC interview, defending her claim that the Founding Fathers fought against the institution of slavery, June 28, 2011
John Quincy Adams was the sixth President of the United States, not a founding father. His actual father, John Adams, played an important role in the creation of the nation. At the time Adams signed the Declaration of Independence, his son John Quincy was still a little boy. Bachmann maintains that her statement is still absolutely true.
