Congress is already in the hot seat over the now 16-day government shutdown, and they risk soon adding 30,000 distance runners to the list of furious constituents.
The Marine Corps Marathon is in jeopardy of being canceled because of the shutdown, race organizers said on the event’s Facebook page Tuesday. Race officials said they will let runners know by Saturday if the event will be canceled, according to Runner’s World.
The annual marathon, scheduled this year for Oct. 27, runs through some of Washington, D.C.’s most famous sites, many of which are currently closed due to the shutdown.
