The latest Inspector General’s report on the intelligence community was made public Tuesday, courtesy of a Freedom of Information Act request from the Federation of American Scientists. The report is heavily redacted but includes some titillating tidbits about misbehavior on the part of intelligence community workers.
From June 2012 to March 2013 the Inspector General received 70 “contacts or complaints” about intel personnel from other intel personnel, and 77 more from the general public. In once instance, an employee in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence was found to have been “operating a personal website on Government time using Government systems through which he solicited and received donations.” (Maybe he was launching a Kickstarter campaign to keep the lights on during the government shutdown…?) Another employee “attempted to improperly obtain a security clearance for a private citizen through the use of a no-cost contract.”
