New York Democratic Senator Charles E. Schumer threw his support behind former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton for the 2016 presidential run at an Iowa fundraiser Saturday.
“I am urging Hillary Clinton to run for President, and when she does, she will have my full and unwavering support,” the third-ranking Senate Democrat said during a keynote speech at a Democratic Party fundraiser in Des Moines, Iowa.
He also made his stance public on Twitter just before the speech:
Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill said the endorsement was “very flattering,” but that the former Secretary of State has not made a decision about a possible run.
