Cory Booker has apparently fallen victim to social media’s temptations after reports surfaced this week that he tangled on Twitter with a performer from a Portland-based vegan strip club.
According to a report in the New York Times, Newark Mayor Booker sent a direct message on Twitter to 26-year-old stripper Lynsie Lee saying: “the East Coast loves you, and by the East Coast, I mean me.”
The aspiring U.S. senator is known for his zealous embrace of social media and has amassed more than 1.4 million followers on Twitter.
“The mayor talks with people from all walks of life on Twitter,” the Times reported Booker’s spokesperson Kevin Griffis as saying. “The most shocking part of the story was learning that there is a vegan strip club in Portland.”
