Former President George H.W. Bush shaved his head this week in solidarity with 2 year-old Patrick, the son of a member of his Secret Service detail, who is undergoing treatment for leukemia.

Bush’s office released photos of Bush with a bare head Wednesday holding Patrick while sitting in his wheelchair. The 89 year-old former Commander-in-Chief also posed with members of his security detail, known as the Bush Protective Division, who  shaved their heads in solidarity with their colleague’s son. Agents have organized a motorcycle benefit run next month to assist Patrick and his family with his medical bills, a cause to which President and Mrs. Bush have already donated, according to a spokesman.

The Bushes lost their first daughter, Robin, to leukemia at the age of four 59 years ago.
