Treasury Secretary Jack Lew’s slinky signature has been replaced by a slightly more intelligible version. First noticed by MSNBC, the revised signature appeared in the annual report of the Financial Stability Oversight Council released last month.

But according to an administration official, the new signature “does not look anything like” the official version that will be displayed U.S. currency beginning later this year. A Treasury spokesperson told TIME, “I’d advise you to stay tuned.”

When Lew’s nomination to the post was announced in January, President Barack Obama poked fun at Lew’s signature, saying when he saw news reports about it he considered rescinding his offer to appoint him.

“Jack assures me that he is going to work to make at least one letter legible in order not to debase our currency should he be confirmed as Secretary of the Treasury,” Obama said to laughs and applause.
