I’m somewhat distracted today…and hope you’ll indulge me in a non-political recommendation. My wife and I are huge fans of British television mystery series and we just finished one that I simply can’t get out of my head: Life on Mars…about a Manchester detective who gets hit by a car in 2006 and wakes up as a Manchester detective in 1973. (An American version of this series lasted one season on ABC, but I’ve not seen it.)

In any case, the British version lasted for 2 seasons, 16 one-hour episodes. Brilliantly written and acted, as is usual with the Brits. But there’s something more, an ethereal quality to it, that is absolutely mesmerizing. Readers are hereby encouraged to recommend their favorite series–the more obscure and erudite, the better.
