Scranton #1: Obama Rally

Dispatches from the Obama trail: Obama ventured into Hillary territory, quite literally where her father is buried, to Scranton, Pennsylvania tonight and rallied 4,800 eager fans. Under the neon lights of a massive indoor soccer field, Obama also unleashed some of his harshest criticism yet of Clinton, laying out three reasons why he’d …

Obama Takes a Hit in PA Poll

First poll of Pennsylvania voters post-“bitter” comments shows Obama taking a hit. The American Research Group had him and Clinton neck-and-neck with 45% each in its April 5-6 survey. The group’s April 11-13 poll has Obama at 37% to Clinton’s 57%.

Of course, this is just one poll. It’ll be interesting to see others as they come later …

Obama’s Bitter Pill

Here’s my analysis for time.com. And, Obama this morning in a speech before the Alliance for American Manufacturing questioned how in touch McCain and Clinton are. An excerpt:

You know, there’s been a lot of talk in this campaign lately about who’s “in touch” with the workers of Pennsylvania. Senator Clinton and Senator McCain

Jobs Jobs and More Jobs in Pennsylvania

Commentators on my AFL-CIO posts earlier this week (this is for you, Elvis) asked what Obama and Clinton were saying on the trail in Pennsylvania. Most of the talk was about jobs, creating them, bringing them back or preventing them from leaving. I just posted this story on time.com about how Obama and Clinton may sound different — he …

Obama Looks For The Philly Union Label

I don’t want to make too much about size. But Obama’s room at this Pennsylvania AFL-CIO conference is a third larger than Clinton’s, though this room is much airier – Clinton’s was packed cheek-to-jowl.

Obama did his best to get the crowd “Fired Up and Ready to Go.” He even told that Greenwood, South Carolina story at the …

Bowling For The Presidency

Hillary kicked off the press conference she just had with an April Fools gag:
“I just want to take a moment to say that this has been a very hard fought race each of us is drawing enormous support. We clearly need to do something,” she said in a somber tone. “Today I am challenging Senator Obama to a bowl-off, a bowling night right …

Hillary Looks For the Philly Union Label

What could be more alluring for Democratic presidential candidates three weeks ahead of the Pennsylvania primary than a gathering of the Keystone States AFL-CIO unions? While many have endorsed Clinton (Obama has the backing of the Change to Win unions that broke away from the AFL-CIO after the last presidential cycle) both candidates …

Even More New Pennsylvania Voters

Ever more fascinating Pennsylvania registration numbers emerged today and the PA Secretary of State is still counting. Apparently there are, so far, 4, 119,213 registered Democrats now in Pennsylvania, that’s up an additional 74,261 from last week’s tally. The state’s voter registration deadline closed at midnight a week ago today. …

Lots of New Democrats in Pennsylvania

I spent the last two days checking out Obama and Clinton’s operations in Pennsylvania and found some interesting voter registration stats with Pennsylvania’s State Department. Here’s my story, but for any one interested here’s the site that lists voter registration – it was updated weekly until the books closed at midnight last …
