OT, but when you write up a report and it includes 9-1-1, firetruck, ambulance and stretcher, it wasn't a good day. Goodnight. I'm whipped.

The Power Player of the Week on Fox News Sunday was Toni Hiley, the curator of the CIA Museum which is only open to officers on their first day on the job.

Ms Hiley was very proud of the model of bin Laden's house which was used for training.  When Chris Wallace probed, "Of course, you couldn't see inside?" she responded to the effect that such was one of the things they couldn't talk about.

Impressive, fascinating.

@sacredh

Do you suppose them Canadicans have declared war on us?

Because if you ask me, I'd say they have a pretty good strategy;~)

I spoke too soon. We're having a flat-out snowstorm here now.

sacredh
sacredh

It's twenty detgrees here and we only had a half inch of snow. Maybe the only time I've liked moderation.

There are still 60+ lurkers and 2050 comments on the Nye thread.  They are still trying to stab each other to death in The Name of Our Lord.

I think our local weather station throws darts to make predicitions. We've already got about 2 inches of new snow and it's still going strong:

From the article:

"Democrats are known as having great policies (for minorities) on paper, but it's harder to rise through the ranks," said Andra Gillespie, an associate professor of political science at Emory University. "The Republicans don't have great policies on paper, but they are often more supportive of their minority candidates."

@sacredh  He drew mild applause from the audience.  "That was kind of tepid". he said.

So much for diversity from republicans in Texas.

I think we need to put our blimps up along the border.  Christie, Limbaugh, Beck....

...and following it up with blasts of cold air and snowstorms.  I'd swear that they were trying to make natural hockey rinks down here.

The problem is that the GOP minority candidates just happen to support the old white guy POV when they run. Can you say "Token"?

@fitty_three, we might get an additional 1-2" today, but the rest of the week is supposed to be near normal weather. What a relief.

@collioure

Man, Pool A looks ugly.  US and Russia as top tier and then Slovakia as your second tier.  Should be fun.

One thing I don't get, though, is how they end up with US and Canada in the same pool in Women's Hockey.  I mean, it's generally agreed that women's Hockey has Canada and the US being miles ahead of everyone.  Why would you put them in the same pool?

@forgottenlord

Well, if your team kicks our asses, I'm all for Canada giving Pootin' Putin a black eye or two.

And Canada is kind of almost the US anyway, and I mean that in a good way.  It's a win-win for me.

@fitty_three

Ok, remember when Vancouver rioted after losing the Stanley Cup final

Edmonton and Montreal have *both* done that when they won a playoff series.

In 2010, Putin tore a strip off of Ovechkin when their team got knocked out in the first elimination round.  I'm expecting something similar.

Actually, the most incredible stat, IMO, is that in the 2010 Olympics, 80% of Canada watched part of the Gold Medal Game and 65% watched Crosby score the game winner.  There are few times where any nation can say it was a shared national moment, but that one was a shared national moment.

The start time for the Gold Medal game is 4am.  Something tells me it won't be the same shared national moment.

That said, I *really* want the Gold Medal game to be between Russia and Canada.  Just imagine the story: the reigning champions vs the host nation.  Exciting.

Shirt.  I'm assimilating!

I spelled Hockey as a proper noun.  Oh, noes!

@sacredh

The Canadicans cancelled global warming?

Nevermind.  It makes sense.  How can you play Hockey without ice?

sacredh

@fitty_three, I'll have to think about that and get back to you The Day After Tomorrow.

Must be one of those entry level jobs, like slinging hash.

Renton and Seattle did pretty good, they got all the slopes and skipped the straight flat stuff.  The right way to do it in my mind.

sacredh
sacredh

@fitty_three, when they get close to our actual weather/temperature/snowfall, it's a rarity. Romney's pollsters were more accurate.

fitty_three
fitty_three

@sacredh

Exactly.  And even if it isn't intentional, it becomes tokenism by using that litmus.

sacredh
sacredh

@fitty_three, I think their entire problem boils down to them only wanting women and minorities candidates that angry old white men feel comfortable with. Theywant their women and minorities to be echo chambers and not actually represent anything that even hints of diversity.

fitty_three
fitty_three

@sacredh

No, it's certainly not.  The GOP is dumber than a box of rubber donuts.  If they even got inkling about the real reason the black community rejects them by such wide margins, they'd wipe the floors, the ceiling, and at least two walls with us after they apply what they'd learn.

Off to get my daughter.

sacredh
sacredh

@fitty_three, the democratic party is deeply flawed. I'll be the first to admit that. But in their defense, they TRY to provide a voice to everyone. Women actually represent women's issues and don't have to worry about backlash from within the party.Our minority candidates actually voice minority concerns. We don't trot out a woman or minority and make a big deal out of it, it's who we are and what we represent.

fitty_three
fitty_three

@sacredh

No, I'm afraid not.  Their attitude and approach to the black community has become the template, unfortunately.

sacredh
sacredh

@fitty_three, And for the women's POV, they have Palin and Bachmann.  The GOP will never get it.

sacredh
sacredh

@fitty_three, I worked with them both last night. The guys daughter may need plastic surgery on her lips because they got cut up pretty bad, but she's pretty good other than that. The other guy was whipped that pulled the double so I let him kick back for most of the night.

fitty_three
fitty_three

@sacredh

Glad of that. I bet that guy that pulled the double is relieved. And, of course, the other guy's daughter is improving.

sacredh
sacredh

@fitty_three, last night at work was actually kind of fun. Things were slow because of the ice so we had a nice break for a change.

fitty_three

@sacredh

I'll have to take my daughter down the hill in a while. My Saturn SUV is great in the snow. I'll probably spend more time tiptoing around those abandoned benzes than I will negotiating the snow.

fitty_three
fitty_three

@sacredh

That's good. I have a couple benzes, an SUV, a cube truck, and a firebird for sale. You can have then all for $500.

All you gotta do is get 'em.
