2 minute read

Vice President Joe Biden said in an interview airing Friday that he’ll decide in the summer of 2015 whether or not to run for president again, but that “there’s no obvious reason for me why I think I should not run.”

Biden’s comments, in an interview with CNN, came as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton continues to dominate talk of the next Democratic contest for the White House. Biden said he’ll decide “a year this summer.” Asked to give one reason why he shouldn’t run, Biden said: “I can’t.”

“There may be reasons I don’t run, but there’s no obvious reason for me why I think I should not run,” he said. “For me, the decision to run or not run is going to be determined by me, as to whether I am the best qualified person to focus on the few things I’ve spent my whole life on.”

Speaking at the United Auto Workers conference on Wednesday, Biden joked that “one overwhelming reason not to run for president” was that he would be able to drive the new Corvette Z06. “You tack that sucker up to six grand and this comes out of the hole like a bullet, man,” Biden said/ “And I could hardly wait, if I were just not in this job, to take on my friend’s Porsche.”
