Chris Christie Will Speak At CPAC 2014

Vote of confidence in embattled New Jersey governor after last year's snub

New Jersey governor Chris Christie will speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference next month after being denied a speaking slot last year, in what might be seen as a conservative vote of confidence for the embattled Republican.

The largest annual gathering of conservatives is considered a prime gig for a presidential hopeful, since it’s an opportunity to make an impression on primary voters, grassroots activists, and conservative media.

American Conservative Union chairman Al Cardenas told Yahoo News that Christie was snubbed last year because his record wasn’t conservative enough, and because of his gushing praise of Obama’s response to Superstorm Sandy and his criticism of House Republicans for delaying the relief funding.

Christie’s invitation to speak is a sign that the GOP may not be ready to give up on governor, despite the “Bridgegate” scandal that has rocked his administration. Big Republican names came to Christie’s support on Sunday morning talk shows this week.

In a letter published by the New York Times last week, Christie’s former aide David Wildstein alleged that evidence existed proving that Christie knew his aides had snarled traffic on the George Washington Bridge in retaliation for a political slight by the mayor of Fort Lee, NJ. Christie denied all claims he had any foreknowledge of the scheme.

TIME Magazine, you are truly shameless in your narrow, one-sided narrative-style of reporting the day's news!!

Even now, you still bring up Wildstein's NY Times-published letter, claiming to have evidence against the Governor.  Yet, whether out of ignorance or intentional bias, you AGAIN fail to note that Wildstein never supported his claims by showing said evidence.  Furthermore, you never mentioned that the NY Times had to walk-back their premature article, that claimed to be in possession of said evidence.

Also, the only reason this scandal has "rocked his Administration" is because you - yes, you TIME - and every other outlet pounced on the Governor, and denied him the presumption of innocence by assuming he's outright guilty.  That is appalling, disgraceful behavior from allegedly professional sources of journalism.

As long as you published such blatant dish-rag drivel, you deserve to continue to bleed readers, revenues, and relevance as time goes on.  Truly shameful and disgusting.

So NOW that he is sufficiently corrupt he's "conservative" enough to speak at CPAC?

So that's how a RINO makes a name for himself! Try to work with all your constituents and you're a pariah, but a dishonest, vindictive, childish, partisan goon is welcomed with open arms! Tells you a lot about what a "proper" republickin' is made of.

Seems Chris Soprano is running a real organized crime organization as those around him keep getting caught committing crimes.

A state police bodyguard to Chris Christie is facing criminal charges in Pennsylvania — despite his attempt to use his ties with the New Jersey governor to avoid arrest.

Trooper William A. Carvounis, 35, is accused of stealing $267 in gun supplies and other goods from a Cabela’s store near Hamburg. His arraignment is scheduled for Feb. 10 in Berks County Court of Common Pleas.

Right, a crime - close a couple of lanes to a bridge for four days and the Democrats claim that the lane restrictions were to punish Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich for refusing to endorse Christie during his reelection campaign. Wow that sounds truly criminal to me, NOT! Just another example of the Loony left wing of our country. Payback about federal dollars from Sandy, the mayor was lying about her journal, "she said she said" in a parking lot. The mayor testified under oath last Sept. that she does not keep a diary, check it out!

I saw this coming a mile away. When Christie appeared to be a reasonable guy who put the welfare of his constituents ahead of politics, the "conservatives" hated him. Turns out he might just be a petty, vindictive liar and bully, so now they are warming up to him. The people that attend CPAC make my skin crawl.

Will he be appearing on the "Liar's Club"?

The mind boggles.   Christie is now acceptable to the extreme right?  In a twisted sort of way, it makes sense.

I'll put money on him never appearing.   A month is a long time and subpoena information is already leaking out.   Surely even CPAC won't be this stupid.

Christie should just give up the Chairmanship of the RGA. He is up to his droopy fat eyelids in trouble over the bridge that went nowhere. He did refused to endorsed many GOP candidates for public position. He endorsed Romney half heartedly and did not invite Romney to New Jersey but did invite Obama. No, Christie just disappear please.

Just like in The Godfather. .. Christie was sailing along just fine and didn't need the tea bags. The bridge scandal is the dead-hooker-in-the-bed. So now he hits a snag and suddenly needs to have the right in his camp since the moderates are fleeing in droves. Remember when Mitty was pragmatic before he drank thekoolaid? Witness the conversion of Chris Christie.

Guess they were waiting for him to prove he was a true conservative by bullying, lying and stealing.

@mrbomb13  Nobody pounced unti the e-mails were out.   It was silent by the MSM until then.  As it should have been.   Now they have to cover it.

Just because a blog post in the  NY Times  left out quote marks does not change the gist of the story as Wildstein very clearly  said he could prove Christie knew the lanes were closed at the time they were closed.   That's news.   He invoked the fifth before; now he's saying he'll sing if he can't get his lawyer back and if he gets immunity.

Blogs post news as it comes out; they change the reports as they come out.   That's the nature of blogs.  If you have evidence CHristie is innocent - post it.   What does his brother say?    His grandma?   Time will probably post it if they speak up.   Let's hear from the brother!

It's certainly news that CPAC now wants him to speak.   It's hilarious.

@BruceStrong  He's being investigated by the State Legislature that voted unanimously (Rep and Dem) to look into the matter.    He's also being investigated by the NY Attorney General (who Christie appointed).    This isn't about the 'loony left" - this is about Christie and the citizens of New Jersey.

@BruceStrong Actually his staff e-mails clearly showed that they were designed for political retribution. Better lies please.

@JakobStagg  No, lifetime membership is reserved for Obama. With Hillary as possibly next. The front line is crowded with liberals and Dimocrats. Christie ought to call first.

@jmac  Don't be surprised. After all, they let quitter Sarah Palin speak last year. . . .

@mantisdragon91  Sorry again, Mantis. That was Obama bullying, lying and stealing. Bet if somebody ask you about the lying and stealing for proof, they will hear the all sound of crickets. As usual, you will disappear and find somewhere else to troll.

@ReneDemonteverde They didn't let him speak last year, and yet this year after the scandal came out they do. So you tell me. what else about Christie has changed?
