House Republican Conference Chair Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R- Wash.) will deliver the GOP response to President Obama’s State of the Union address Tuesday.

A five-term congresswoman from Washington’s fifth district, McMorris Rodgers will be the first woman to deliver the official Republican response since Sen. Susan Collins (R—Maine) spoke along with then Sen. Bill Frist (R—Tenn.) in 2000.

In 2011, conservative icon Rep. Michele Bachmann (R—Minn.) delivered a State of the Union response on behalf of the Tea Party movement. This year’s Tea Party response will be offered by Sen. Mike Lee (R—Utah).

The selection of McMorris Rodgers, a Republican leader since 2009, could represent a tactical choice for a party that has drawn criticism in recent years over insensitive comments made about women.

Cool, the last tactical choice of a woman the republicans made was McCain's running mate. Worked out great.

"Shut-Down" Cathy is the Rep from my district.  In her 8 year career in the House, she has authored one bill that has passed, the naming of the new tower at the airport in Spokane, WA.

She is the one standing behind Tammy Faye Boehner in all the photo ops with the really mean look on her face.

Perhaps what she'll say is that the country is white, xenophobic and wealthy, because that's what the Republican fantasy for the United States is.

The problem really is that the Republicans don't have a response, because they don't have a program, they don't have anything to offer the country and all they seem to be able to do is say, "no".

Perhaps she'll tell us why we're all better off if all human support services are eliminated from the federal budget so we can give more tax breaks to the wealthiest individuals and corporations.  Perhaps she'll tell us why we need to deregulate industry completely so we can all enjoy chemical spills like the one that just occurred in West Virginia.  Perhaps she'll tell us that it wasn't the Republicans who deregulated the financial industry so that we could enjoy the Great Recession.

More to the point, perhaps she'll tell us why Republicans are trying really hard to make sure that this is really only the government for the wealthy people and not for all the people, and why to reinforce that goal the Republicans are engaging (or trying to engage) in widespread vote suppression to disenfranchise Americans who are different from them.

Undoubtedly, she has lots of things to tell us.  Only, it's a good guess that she won't.

So we're going to have not just one but two republican responses broadcast again this year.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could get a progressive response broadcast nationally?  You know, fairness and all...

Well, at least one can dream.

And here is the next soldier on the Republicans' war "for" women. The Republicans empowered Kathy so she could give the State of the Union response [eye roll]

Is Huckabee helping this libido-driven woman write her speech?

@bobcn Nope.  Not two.   Rand Paul has decided to make it a threesome!   Maybe they can throw in the kitchen sink next.

@reallife @jmac No, there is probably another one hidden somewhere in the country trying to pretend she didn't heard that piece of tripe from Huckabuck.
