The investigation into Governor Chris Christie administration’s traffic scandal for alleged political retribution will widen to look into new allegations by a New Jersey mayor that Christie aides withheld Hurricane Sandy relief funds.
New Jersey Democratic Assemblyman John Wisniewski said on NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday that his state assembly committee will also investigate Hoboken mayor Dawn Zimmer’s claim that the Christie administration didn’t provide ample funding for Hurricane Sandy relief to the hard-hit town because she wouldn’t push a lucrative development in her town, the Associated press reports.
Former New York City mayor and Christie ally Rudy Giuliani weighed in on the growing investigation, saying that Wisniewski is “no longer a partial arbiter of the facts.” Giuliani added that the Democrats have mounted “a very, very well-orchestrated Democratic kind of organizational effort to try to hurt Gov. Christie, who was the only Republican who was beating Hillary Clinton in any poll at any time.”
