Former chairman of the Republican National Committee Ed Gillespie has formally entered the 2014 race to represent Virginia in the U.S. Senate.
Gillespie announced his campaign Thursday with an online video taking aim at Obamacare and Sen. Mark Warner (D—Va.), whom Gillespie will challenge for the seat.
If Gillespie’s campaign is successful, he won’t be the only former party chair to hold statewide office in Virginia. Former chairman of the Democratic National Committee Terry McAuliffe is the state’s governor.
