Hillary Clinton’s ‘Hit List’ Included Kerry

New book reveals aides were keeping track of 2008 slights

Aides on Hillary Clinton’s failed 2008 presidential campaign kept a detailed list of Democrats they felt had betrayed her by backing Barack Obama in their long and bitter primary fight, according to a new book.

Then-Sen. John Kerry, who would succeed Clinton as Secretary of State years later, was among the worst offender in the eyes of Clinton aides, according to the book, HRC: State Secrets and the Rebirth of Hillary Clinton. Kerry endorsed Obama at a critical moment in the race, after Clinton had recovered from losing the Iowa caucuses to win the New Hampshire primary.

“Almost six years later most Clinton aides can still rattle off the names of traitors and the favors that had been done for them, then provide details of just how each of the guilty had gone on to betray the Clintons—as if it all had happened just a few hours before, write the authors, reporters Jonathan Allen of Politico and Amie Parnes of The Hill. “The data project ensured that the acts of the sinners and saints would never be forgotten.”

The book comes out next month, but excerpts were published Monday by Politico and The Hill.

Other pols on Clinton’s sort-of enemies list included Bob Casey (D-Pa.), Sens. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) and Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), as well as Reps. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) and Rob Andrews (D-N.J.).

Clinton has said she’ll decide later this year whether to run for president again in 2016.

Can't figure how Bill didn't make Hillary's "Traitors" list.

First, Obama uses the IRS to go after political foes; secondly, Christie's office abuses its power to punish political detractors; and now Hillary's campaign "team" makes a political hit list. The same question has to be asked, "What did Hillary do to make her campaign feel it was acceptable to make a black list?" Americans are tired of these Nixon-like tactics and this only reminds us about the controversies that follow the Clintons. And this is benign compared to the security lapses at Benghazi. I believe Christie nor Hillary will make it through their primaries.

Does the timing of this article look a tad bit suspicious to anyone else?

After all it does in a small way help Governor Christie by suggesting that political retribution is commonplace in the corridors of power. Hmmm.

Lest you think I am some kind of wacko conspiracy theorist, I should point out that none other than major Christie defender Bill O'Reilly used this as an opportunity to point out what he saw as "a parallel between this and the Christie situation."

If you want to know how hard the Clintons  play, do a Google search on someone known as Ricky Ray Rector, a mentally-incompetent death row inmate who presidential candidate Bill Clinton had executed in 1992 to prove Bill was in step with America on the death penalty. The Clintons are a scary bunch--you bet she has enemy lists and will make life miserable for all those who oppose her. The Clintons bring knives to a fist-fight. Unfortunately for Hillary, in 2008 she encountered the Chicago Gang--they bring guns to a knife-fight.

This is a little scary... Did the Clinton's have a hit list during the Whitewater scandal when so many young people died mysteriously?? These politicians that we have are only a step above the most evil of kings....

REally!  Clinton had a list of supporters.   And it's become a "hit" list to reporters.    Did she shut a bridge?  Did she retaliate in some petty way?   I believe I remember her becoming Secretary of State.    Either put up how she 'hit' or remove the offending "hit".   Kerry also had a list of supporters who supported him in his run for president.

If anything the "worst offender) would have been Edwards - who sold his soul to Obama for money.  His wife knew it.  It was despicable.  She heard those primary debates.   She knew which side they supported ideologically.

I've come around on Hillary. She was a very effective Sec. of State. At the end of the day we simply need someone who can get results and she has a pretty good track record in that respect. Whether or not I vote on her depends on how much feminist BS we have to suffer through during campaign season. I can only take so much before my balls kick in and force me to vote for a man.

Another good reason for the Democratic Party to run away as fast as it can from the possibility of another Clinton in the White House. The Clintons are bad news for America. As Democrats, we can do better, lots better than Hillary. If Hillary is the Democratic nominee, we will have a Republican in the White House in 2017.

Well well now. Seems like Richard Nixon has nothing on our next President Hillary. Keep going America. You have not reach bottom yet under Obama although you are nearing there. To make sure vote Hillary 2016

Fox news just covered this.  The two discussing it made fun of the reporting.   Maybe they think the author of the book, Jonathan Allen from Politico, is just getting little friendly endorsement of his book from a former Politico - Hirshchhorn.

You can do better, Time.  Fox is making fun of your reporting.

@WienersPeenerI really agree on that. In fact she is on the same level as the Mitterands and the Disraelis. Who thought she could solve the Benghazi crises ? The terrorists want the consulate ? Give it to them. Concentrate on the video upsetting the Muslims. There are enough idiots in this country who will believe her anyway. Seeing her shouting What does it matter anyhow to those evil Republicans made me realize this lady will be a great President someday.

@WienersPeener Let's hope the Republicans put up a woman.  I'd love to see your balls kick in.

@DanBruce Who can you do better with Dan?   Give us a name.  You sound like Republicans who don't like her - yet they can never give a name to run against her.

Give us a name, and then, please, please, watch her duke it out in primary debates with the person you name.  Pay attention and maybe you can overlook whatever morality is getting in your way.  (if I remember right).

jmac

@ReneDemonteverde How is she like Nixon and Christie?   Every politician has a list of supporters - but they all don't shut down  two lanes on the busiest bridge in the US for political retaliation or pull a Nixon.     But I'm glad to see you fell for the reporter's intention as he 'hits' Hillary.

mantisdragon91

@ReneDemonteverdeThey could always pick Chris Soprano Christie instead. We know that he is a man that holds no grudges and would ever do anything vindictive or spiteful.

DanBruce
DanBruce

@jmac @DanBruce Morality is important to me (and to many other Americans, enough to prevent Hillary from being elected in a general election), and that is why I don't want another Clinton in  the White House. Bill wasn't the only Clinton who failed us. As for who would be better than Clinton, Joe Biden and John Kerry come to mind for starters. Both would make better presidents than Hillary. Kerry has already shown he is a better Secretary of State.

ReneDemonteverde
ReneDemonteverde

@jmac@ReneDemonteverdeYou might not believe Jmac but am really a fan of Hillary. Standing her next to Bill in spite of the Monicas the definition of is is made me this is the right President for our country. Such commitment, such perseverance and loyalty. Especially when the Muslim terrorists wanted our consulate she gave it to them. Such diplomatic skill.

@ReneDemonteverde Oh, good grief.   I just noticed who wrote that.  Rene - this piece is being made fun of on Fox News.   That's right - Fox thinks it's silly.   But maybe you can get a job on Politico.

"I'm not going to go against Jeb Bush based on his brother.   God might be watching. "

I'm going against Jeb Bush because of his partner who fled the country ahead of the Feds, because of his  children who he got off from charges of drug use in rehab and molesting a minor, and his vote suppression in 2000.

He turned out two children who became drug addicted for one, and molested a minor for the other.

He led the administration that cut tens of thousands of legitimate voters off the rolls in districts that leaned democratic.

He is scum.

jmac

@jmac @DanBruce Also - you are ignoring Bush's eight years of more deregulation, Foxes in the Hen Houses and a huge push for an Ownership Society in his State of the Union when you blame the bank failure on Bill Clinton.   Having Coolidge in the White House had more to do with it than Phil Graham's and Republican's push on Clinton.

I agree with you 95% of the time, but not when it comes to Clinton (the Democratic) over Obama (the Blue Dog).

jmac
jmac

@DanBruce @jmac  ". . . Clinton's failed economic policies . .. "

I give up.  But I'll put Bill Clinton's eight year economic progress against Obama's Blue Dog economic Wall Street no-banker-in-jail, not-letting-Bush-tax-cuts expire,  piddly stimulus any day.   Bill Clinton understood the economy; Obama understood what Geithner whispered in his ear.

DanBruce
DanBruce

@jmac @DanBruce My main objection to the Clintons is their ties to big money (think Mark Rich, for example). It was under Bill Clinton that much of the deregulation that led to the financial collapse occurred, or have you forgotten? I haven't heard Hillary denounce Bill's long-time personal misconduct over the decades or his failed economic policies (if you don't think they have failed, ask those who paid the bill in 2008 when the big banks went berserk after the rules were relaxed and then failed and left millions of Americans holding the bag).

DanBruce
DanBruce

@jmac @DanBruce Sorry, I have no idea of what you are talking about with Fox News. I don't watch Fox. Ever.

jmac
jmac

@DanBruce @jmac "Another good reason to run away . . . "   You can't even use that - FOX made fun of the reason - it's that bad.   For you to jump on this blog to hit Hillary yet again and use what was written above?   Maybe you're like Christie and you need to do some soul searching.

I'm not going to go against Jeb Bush based on his brother.   God might be watching.

@DanBruce @jmac What truth in Primary Colors?     Your God wants to know as you morally judge this woman.  Name what you  find morally offensive.   What misconduct did she do?

It's a good thing you didn't name Edwards - because there's a man with no morals when it came to money and endorsements.

DanBruce
DanBruce

@tommyudo @DanBruce We won't have a Democrat in the White House if we nominate Hillary. Even though I will not vote for a Republican, neither will I vote for Hillary in a general election. Many Democrats forget that Hillary lost to a relative unknown in 2008. The same will happen in 2016 if we nominate her, except that we will not have the good fortune of ending up with a Barack Obama but instead we will end up with a Rand Paul and Ted Cruz. We can't afford the Hillary experiment.

tommyudo

@DanBruce

Sorry Dan, but morality has  zero to do with who the next POTUS is going to be. Whoever it is will still be the errand boy (or girl) for the 1% and the National Security State. You know the adage "The more things change".... etc. I have no great love for Hillary, but at least with a Dem in the WH the race to the bottom will be  a landing with a soft whimper and not a loud bang. The  Mad Hatters of  the modern GOP have shown themselves to be incapable of rational governance.

jmac
jmac

@DanBruce Have to go, but just a thought - maybe putting the sins of the husband on the woman is morally wrong?

DanBruce
DanBruce

@jmac @DanBruce Watch "Primary Colors" again and you will understand. I know that movie is fictional, but, as they say, truth is even stranger than fiction. No more Clinton family misconduct in the White House for 2016!

jmac
jmac

@DanBruce @jmac What did she do morally that you don't like?  Not divorce him?  It sounds like you want to punish the wife for the husband's misdeeds.

I think Kerry would have been a fine president.   I think he's a super Sec of State (bear in mind, Obama's not running for re-election and Obama is the boss).     If he runs, I'll listen to both.     But Biden - how do you morally accept that video of him drunk?  Does your morality only extend to women who don't divorce their husbands?   Would you accept a video of her drunk or would you morally use that against her?
