Mitt Romney accepted an apology from MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry, who along with other panelists on her show made remarks about his adopted African American grandchild.

“I think it’s a heartfelt apology, and I think for that reason we hold no ill will whatsoever,” the former Republican presidential candidate said on Fox News Sunday.

“I think people recognize, and the folks at MSNBC who have apologized recognize, people like me are fair targets: If you get in the political game, you can expect incoming,” he said. “For children, that’s beyond the line. I think they understand that and feel that as well.”

Harris-Perry offered a tearful apology Saturday for making fun of a Romney photo and pointing out his black grandchild. The segment set off public outrage online, prompting the MSNBC host to apologize both on Twitter and on-air.

You misquoted Gov Romney in your subheadline. You should offer a link to his comments on Fox News just as you offered a link to the MSNBC host's comments.

I'd like to see Mr. Romney run for President again in 2016. The next time, possibly he could truly be his good himself and the majority of the American people would vote for him.

I never cared for either one of them. I've always thought of Romney as a huge crook and Perry as a racist.

Romney is smart enough to know that the comments by the panel on the one MSNBC show was out of bounds and they Harris-Perry recognized it and accepted the apology.   I think it is great that the Romneys decided to adopt a baby that is different from a racial standpoint and it sends a great example to all Americans Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Asian and any other ethnic group that a child in need has no color and love is the only thing that matters.  Hats off to the Romney family for making such a great decision and kudos to him for staying above the political fray.

I don't think Mitt Romney wants to run again. This is something the liberal MSNBC started. He didn't seek the attention. His family is being ridiculed by the same people who attacked him relentlessly as a person before. I think he is just too nice a guy for politics or for that matter the president. He is basically a wholesome family man, a devout Mormon, a great father and a faithful husband. Leave the job of the president to the cheater and womanizer Clinton who turned the White House into his sexual pleasure house or the Obamas who love to party, golf or take expensive trips at tax payers' expense. He has a family charitable foundation. He should just move on to focus on charity works instead of spending time to wrestle with the wolves and liars in politics.

Arguing over these nits like contraception and viagra are a waste of time.  Religious beliefs have no place in health care.

It just goes to show how terrible liberals are at being prejudiced.  Right wing conservatives would find a much more insidious way to insult Romney over his black grandchild.  A right wing fox news talking head would never apologize regardless of how offensive the remark was.

THat was a gracious acceptance from Romney.   Unfortunately, he went on to spew right-wing rhetoric on Romney/Obamacare. He doesn't think 70-year olds should have to have birth control provisions or maternity coverage in their plans.   Does that mean I don't have to have viagra covered in mine?    Then he proceeds to complain that church affiliated employers should  not have to cover birth control - even though they do in Romneycare and he didn't try to undo it as he put that plan in place.

Obviously from  appearing on Fox and talking-the-Fox-talk, he's looking at running again.  Otherwise, he could have done the nation a favor and actually put forth recommendations that would strengthen the ACA and help implement it.     He's never going to live down that Obamacare IS Romneycare and he's not going to win a second nomination from the base he apparently is going to continue to play to.

It's sad.

A devout Mormon. You know, just a few years ago, blacks were not allowed to hold the Mormon priesthood. Oh, and then "God" gave them a "new revelation" that allowed blacks. How convenient!! Talk about racism....

Nice, dude. Yes, Bain Capital and Wall Street is a temple of people too good and pure and righteous to get their hands dirty in politics. He's obviously a saint too good for this world.

He has gone away, but has come back to defend his grandchild against the juvenile insults of MSNBC.

@garrywcrosby Wow!  I haven't heard language like that since I was in the seventh grade.  Are you in the seventh grade or is that when you just stopped maturing?

@jmac And as far is Mitt Romnie is concerned all that guy has done is be successful at pretty much everything he does. So obviously you are right we don't want him for President.  Instead we want some guy who hasn't managed more than 6 people in his entire life to run the US Government, in effect the largest corporation on Earth.  Yep  you are right Obama much better choice....

It really about what you can get for free isn't it?

@jmac Uh  --  70 year olds are covered by medicare not the affordable healthcare act.  As far as your Viagra is concerned, Having said that, I am not sure why Viagra should be paid for by tax payers, as medicare is subsidized by tax payers.  Can't you pay for your own recreation?  Why am I responsible for it?

@CarlLegg @fairpol7311 The Mormon Church has stated that it wasn't a "revelation" that they in fact were wrong. They said very clearly that it wasn't God who didn't allow them to hold the priesthood - it was men - and they were wrong. The LDS/Mormon Church has made that very clear.

@sdehm01 @jmac   It's a right-wing talking point to say that men shouldn't have to be covered by female health problems.   It's another example of Republicans claiming they want to cut cost - then coming up with absolutely ridiculous things to complain about.

I hope he runs again.   We'll see if he has enough guts to erase that etch-a-sketch.   So far, it looks like he's going to pander to the Fox/Teas that helped take him down the last time - and then etch the sketch after he gets the nomination?    That 47% comment right-wing comment that did him in - he learned nothing from it.

Yeah, after 150 years, after oppressing blacks for its entire history, even in the age of civil rights. Mormonism is a study is changing the doctrine to fit the culture. What a crock.
