President Barack Obama is the most admired man in America for the sixth year in a row, and Hillary Clinton is the country’s most admired woman, according to a survey out Monday.

Each year Gallup asks Americans to name the living man and woman they most admire. In 2013, 16% named Obama, a strong showing but down significantly from the 30% he drew in 2012. Former President George W. Bush and Pope Francis each earned 4%, while Bill Clinton and Billy Graham got 2% each.

Hillary Clinton earned the designation of most admired woman for the 18th time, more than any woman in Gallup’s history. The 15% she earned in 2013 is down from 21% last year. Behind Clinton are Oprah Winfrey with 6%, and Michelle Obama and Sarah Palin with 5% each.

Just how stupid do they think people are ? They are just patting themselves on the back. I bet if you ask them why they admire Obama they will answer they like the tint of his skin, looks  and acts cool, sings like Al Greene. About Hillary they will say because of husband Bill.

This must be another NY Times poll.  I am sure it is just as inaccurate as their research on Benghazi.

At what point are individuals to be held accountable for actions that influence or effect many. Any individual who is not 100% honest in all situations. I for one do not admire.

Hillary Clinton has rolled around in politics a long, long time and as a presidential candidate she is the tar baby that the more Republican operatives try to smear the more they’ve got her on their hands andthe more unbeatable she becomes---and Republicans don’t have anything movingly positive to thrown into the political arena.

If she runs, she will win in a landslide and be the powerful governing force that does what conservatives can only pretend that Obama has.

Hilary will be in inaugural dress the in-drag combination of Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Abe Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, Harry Truman, and LBJ.

The only question left to be answered will be in what Hilary will wear to the inaugural balls; a flowing gown or pantsuit?

I don't understand-both Clinton & Obama both used coke and it was dismissed by the press- In Obama's book he writes that he did alittle drugs in college (alittle SMACK & alittle BLOW) but his friends say he did alotta drugs and Mia Marie Pope even was interviewed about it and this was ignored by our press- so listen to what Mia has to say about Obama's drug use===>

Why would anyone admire a politician? Where are the scientists? You know, the people who have actually changed the world, like James Watson who helped discover the structure of DNA... (AKA the secret of life) or Tim Berners-Lee who invented the system we are using right now.

One thing the author of this article overlooked. The sitting president has held the No. 1 position for 57 of the last 67 years.....

I cannot see how any politician can be admired, especially scoundrels like Obama or Clinton.

So 84% of Americans do not admire Obama and even more do not admire Hillary. Sounds about right. Only the rabid Kool-aid drinking crowd remains.

"All of a Sudden He's Popular"????   Does Obama own stock in "Time"?  Articles like this one raise serious questions about these so called "polls"..........

Hitler was the most popular leader in 1940's Germany while he was rounding up Jews to eventually be gassed so exactly what does popularity mean?

What has President Obama ACTUALLY DONE to make American's lives better in almost 6 years? Gotten us out of Iraq?, NO we still have a military presence there, Afganistan? NOPE were still there, closed Gitmo, NOPE it's still open, in fact, they just got a new soccer field, Got America back to work, NOPE, while the unemployment number has gone down, it's been done by just not counting people that are long term unemployed, measuring the labor participation rate for adults 18-65 shows us no job rebound at all. Brought manufacturing back, NOPE, everything is made in China or Mexico, Fixed our healthcare affordability, NO, Obamacare is turning out to be the cruelest joke of all, now we can't afford coverage and were going to be fined by the IRS because of it.

As for Hillary, what has she actually DONE, other than to leave our Ambassitor to Lybia twisting in the wind while terrorists were attacking him?

This is why the liberals want all our children to go to public schools. So they don't learn history and believe the government can run our lives. This is a Socialist playground and recess is about to be cancled.

PROPAGANDA TIME

We admire a con artist touting insurance from the oval office. With the re-election of Barack Obama, the United States has officially become a banana republic. From a nation that produced patriots like Ronald Reagan and John Kennedy, we have knowingly selected the lowest common denominator as our commander in chief.

From China to Iran, the enemies of freedom can now breathe a collective sigh of relief as the citizens of the United States have placed an empty suit at the helm of state. To think the American people would select Barack Obama over a man like Mitt Romney is a national embarrassment that we will not soon overcome.

Never in history has a nation so great fallen so far, so fast, as ours did on Nov. 6, 2012. Albert Einstein said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Using this definition, anyone who expects anything different from Obama must surely be insane.

The comments from what passes for "Republicans" these days are so vicious and full of distortions and lies, and there are so many of them that sometimes I think I've been transported  into a country that is half paranoid and ruled by conspiracy theories and half by people who blindly, believe that nothing has changed. That facts still trump lies. Guess who wins in that contest? It's a toss up and that is scary because a toss up could give us a President Cruz and VP Palin and if you think the USA would remain part of the modern Western world after that you should have voted National Socialist in Germany in 1933. We are on the verge of a new dawn alright, a dawn into a world where the Constitution and the states and politics are all shams and "Leaders" rule the Reich, I mean the Union.

@SamOsborne "what Hilary will wear to the inaugural balls?"

how about wearing an orange suit and handcuffs ? now that would be appropriate

AshleyMalagant
AshleyMalagant

@SamOsborne While you're correct Hillary will win, it has nothing to do with your reasons. Media will railroad her in, just like they did Obama, by manipulating every story about her positively, and every story about her opponent negatively.

If we are to believe your reasoning, then please note Sarah Palin tied Michelle Obama for 3rd Place. Non-stop Palin-bashing for 5 years vs non-stop Michelle-love for 5 years. The best she can do is tie Palin? Hmm.

Finally, Hillary will not win in a landslide. She'll get the same, tiny 4% spread Obama did. That will continue to be the Democrat's margin of victory until the immigration issue is decided and Latinos switch to the Republican Party. After they're legal, Democrats lose their carrot on a stick. Latinos are conservative Roman Catholics, and therefore, have nothing in common with the Democrat Party.

The only question left will be what the Republican Latino Presidents will wear in 2020 and beyond. Hatless or sombrero?

@downpour , It would require Americans to read something as opposed to watching American Idol to vote for someone other than the Liar, Liar Period President, who only plays one on TV, and Hillary "What difference does it make?"...the woman who said she was under attack on an airport tarmack which turned out to be a LIE also.  Americans have such short memories but also it's become apparent that the liberals LIE because they can and Americans don't care.  Sad, isn't it?  Think my folks would call it moral decay.

@TomKlein I guess what you don't understand is that none of the "failures" that you cited are things that any President can end by an Executive Order.  Each of them takes the cooperation of both houses of Congress, and babes in arms and ships at sea know full well that that cooperation isn't happening.

Protecting embassies and consulates isn't up to the state department but to the military.  (Hint, the Marine Corp that guard that guards the White House does the same for all embassies and consulates.)  When you understand that, you'll stop trying to blame Ms Clinton, Ms RIce, at all and instead put your spotlight on the correct parties.

Now, I do have to wonder why it is that someone who is not now and never has been an American, and who has never lived in the US, understand American civics better than do so many Americans.

@TomKlein Tom, we are, for all practical purposes, out of Iraq.  We are slowly getting out of Afghanistan.  Gitmo?  That is the fault of Congress, not Obama.  Unemployment?  It is down to 7%.  We are creating nearly 200,000 per month compared with the 100,000s per month we were losing when he came into office.  We have more manufacturing jobs in this country than when we did when Obama took office, but as far as manufacturing coming back, it will never happen.  Look at Dow Jones.  It has doubled.  Evidently Wall Street likes the incompetent leftist community organizer.  Yes, Obamacare has been a flop, but other than that, Obama has done a decent job.

As far as making American lives better, Obama has done that given that he has had to work with a Republican Congress that suffers from Obama Derangement Syndrome. (ODS)

Ronald Reagan was a patriot?!? The man ran the most corrupt administration in modern history and turned us from being the world's largest creditor to its largest debtor. And there is the little matter of Iran/Contra where he illegally sold arms to Iran to finance Right Wing Drug Cartels committing genocide and ethnic cleansing in Central America.

@Karl Its Karl is it, is it Karl Marks? Little history lesson Karl, Hitler was a leftist, not a right winger, Hence the name National Socialist party. Nancy Pelosi, Harry Ried, Obama, and Hillery have far more in common with the National Socialist party, than with our founding fathers and the republic they established.

@TomKlein @Karl Hitler was never, NEVER a left winger.  That simply doesn't go with ANYTHING that he did, from day 1.

But you insist that the current US government is a socialist one, by which you actually mean Communist.  There is  HUGE difference between the two that you don't want to acknowledge, let alone understand.  The same is true of too many other Americans. It seems that you really need to first live in a truly Communist country.  You will be absolutely shocked at the huge difference that you'll find between what you had in the US and what you're living in that country.  Perhaps then you begin to understand just how far from the truth your comments are.

Karl

Klein means "little" auf deutsch", and Marx is spelled with an "x" in English and German. Hitler was appointed Chancellor by President von Hindenburg, a real commie, his rise was financed by rich rightwing extremist Germans. The alternative parties to Hitler's WERE the Communists and the Catholic Democrats. The fear of Communism was his biggest appeal to the German army, and the Conservative, non-Jewish rich. They mostly looked down on him but compared to Lenin and Stalin he looked downright rosy to them in comparison.  Very few modern citizens have anything in common with our founding fathers, half of whom owned slaves providing a traditional, centuries old, labor source on their estates or breweries as in President Washington's, the biggest Rye Whiskey brewer in those days. The other founding fathers were as likely to be invested in the slave trade as in anything else. Their ships were used to import sugar and rum from the brutal slave societies in the Carribean and trade them around the world. They used the aftermath of the Revolution to begin the clean up of the Indian peoples that remained in the Appalacians, I worship the Constitution these same men created and believe in an old fashioned division of powers with the states. PS Your photo looks like a mugshot.

fhmadvocat

@TomKlein@Karl Tom, so Hitler was a leftist?  I suggest you tell that to any German Communist from that era.  Hitler was a Fascist, and don't let the name, "National Socialist Worker's Party" fool you.  Hitler did not confiscate the wealth of the rich of Germany.  In fact, they backed him against the real Left of Germany, because the rich feared a Communist take over of Germany.  Hitler is only a leftist if you think of political persuasions as being in a circle so that a far right guy like Hitler is closer to ideology of a far left guy like Stalin than either would be to a Churchill (Conservative) or Roosevelt (Liberal).  The idea that any American leader has more in common with the National Socialist party than our founding fathers is obscene and the fact you actually think that means you can't be taken seriously.

@manlyman@AshleyMalagant@SamOsborneChris Christie ? Who spent more time bashing his fellow GOPs than Obama ? Spent more time criticizing his fellow GOP rivals than his presumed competitor Hillary ? No, Hillary will win. The Republicans are too disorganized and fighting among themselves. Christie will not get the nomination. Maybe if he passes Iowa, South Carolina and the early primary states. But even then, many conservatives will avoid the poll booths if it comes to Christie and Clinton.

@Karl Well, Karl, I never said or even implied that I hate them, considering that I do not know them and never will know them. It is truly impossible to hate, or to love for that matter, people that one does not know. However, if you wish to equate referring to them as vermin as hatred, it's fine with me, as all politicians are disgusting vermin in my book.
