That's so 1986. I was hoping for a look into Kevin Drum's May article about how "computers/machines" capable of reproducing "computers/machines" are going to take everyone's jobs, but that would mean more mainstream pundits caring about jobs.
He uses "robots/AI," but I feel like that turns a practical matter into dismissible science fiction. Feel free to challenge his assumptions or his conclusions, but it's a very good read.
I for one, welcome our new robot overlords if it means less political pundits pretending to know anything about the real world.
The only reason people have anything to fear from artificial intelligence is because natural intelligence is so clearly inadequate. Vast sections of the USA have now embraced stupidity as a virtue.
If it's any consolation, the "intelligence" that's being injected into current devices is pretty effing stupid too.
