American support the newly-brokered nuclear deal with Iran by a 2-to-1 margin, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Tuesday.

The survey shows 44 percent of Americans support the interim deal with Iran announced in Geneva on Sunday morning, while 22 percent oppose the agreement. The survey, which was conducted Sunday through Tuesday, has a credibility interval of plus or minus 4.9 percent.

The poll also revealed that if the interim deal fails to lead to a permanent accord in six months, 49 percent want the U.S. to increase sanctions and 31 percent support further diplomacy, while only 20 percent favor military action against the Islamic Republic. But half of those surveyed agreed that the U.S. should “use its military power to defend Israel against threats to its security, no matter where they come from,” while 31 percent disagreed with that statement.

The poll is a rare set of positive numbers for President Obama in recent weeks. His approval rating has slipped in several recent polls, mostly due to the botched rollout of the healthcare law.

Thanks to the GOP-Bush-Cheney lies about the need to invade two countries neither of which attacked America, the 20+ years of combined wars based upon lies, arrogance, incompetence, and war-profiteering greed where the GOP-approved 435+ war profiteers made billions while wasting hundreds of billions in failed and unnecessary nation-building projects and the lifetimes of war bills and costly VA healthcare projected to cost $6 trillion, people are wary of war and US-lead military conflicts. The exception of course are the war-mongering, war-profiteering GOP who are always hawks and love those massive multi-billion-dollar defense and government contracts NOT our troops. For them, "War is good business, invest YOUR children."

The GOP must be praying that peace doesn't break out. Think of the angst of those that own stock in military contractors.

I like this.  The American People understand the 6 month window of opportunity for Iran.  And it is an opportunity for that theocracy to effect an overall course change with regard to their position on the global stage.
