The early morning sun rises behind the US Capitol Building in Washington, DC.

  • “Efforts by the United States and Afghanistan to finalize a long-term security arrangement appeared on the brink of collapse Monday as Afghan President Hamid Karzai made a new set of demands, and the Obama administration said it would be forced to begin planning for a complete withdrawal of U.S. forces at the end of 2014.” [WashPost]
  • “With the first peace talks between the Syrian regime and opposition now set for January, a series of failed government efforts to forge regional truces underscores the deep mistrust between them.” [WSJ]

Anyone care to give a guy who was working today a brief, or not so brief, recap?

I'm anti-banning as I prefer that idiocy is exposed rather than silenced.

If I was banned, how come I can still see your posts?

Worst Person in the World

I am thankful this week when I remember that America is big enough and great enough to survive Grown-Up Trayvon in the White House!

I saw on the train ride home, he took another run.

@Paul,nnto Short version?

openminded1 was banned. While I agree that banning should be discouraged, he really did deserve it.

paulie continues to be paulie and continues to be shunned for it. His persecution complex is reaching record levels, though.

Everyone else seems to be behaving within specified norms.

@Sue_N

At least it's not the early Jurassic. You could have walked from Houston to London if something didn't snap you up and garf you down along the way, first.

When did the conservative movement become the home of pseudo-intellectual bigotry?

@MementoMori

Holy crap.  His previous tweet:

If women are the intellectual equals of men, why is there a World Chess Championship and a separate Women's World Chess Championship?

This is my fantasy.

Republicans working to make the country function better and to serve the average person.

@MementoMori Thanks Mori, reading this thread lead me to think Paulie had been banned. With so many "disappeared" comments it got a bit confusing.

Openminded1 was/is so pedestrian I don't know why anyone would get upset. Although I typically skip MMR because of the nonsense I can understand the predictable would get tiresome.

@TyPollard , I take it that I missed the drama today? Paulejb got banned?

It seems the story does have legs.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry is disputing what the White House has posted on its website about uranium refining, I believe.

The Washington Free Beacon is a rightwing propaganda site. Their readers are not looking for "news", but simply affirmation of their ideology, truth be damned. They're no different than Fox, Drudge, Vdare, or any of the other rightwing misinformation sites.

Here's one of my faves:

A story bubbled up in the right-wing media suggesting that the White House requires "that unborn children get security clearance" if their parents want to tour the building. The reporting was based on an email from the White House that instructs potential visitors about "how to enter security information for a baby that has not yet been born."

The Daily Caller, Washington Free Beacon, Drudge Report, National Review Online, and Fox Nation all highlighted this story and presented it in the context of President Obama's support for abortion rights.

@Sue_N @Paul,nnto @MementoMori Sue--P U. Not sorry I "missed" it. Going after a widower is simply sick.

How they live, day after day, with such self-loathing nastiness is curious.

Again, I am anti-banning. At least without stated parameters.

Believe me I have seen a ton of over the top racism here.

Along with over the top homophobia.

Along with over the top religious bigotry.

Along with over the top misogyny.

All allowed to stand.

@Paul,nnto @MementoMori OM stepped over the line when he began insulting fitty and claiming he was lying about his late wife. And it just spiralled from there into racial and ethnic slurs. He earned his banishment.

Paulie, however, is just pitching his usual fits about us fascists infringing on his freedom of speech. Or, you know, Tuesday in the swamp.

@TyPollard, I'm almost ready to call it a night myself. I printed up my work calendar for 2016 today. I think that's it for me.

Off to dinner. Prowl the swamp to keep it safe in here.

@TyPollard, that's another reason why I hate working daylight shift. I miss all the good stuff. Thankfully, I don't work another one for a month. Well, 3 and 1/2 weeks anyway.

I don't know. Just poffed maybe.

It seemed like he was stalking Alex on twitter and giving him the "paulie" treatment.

It was lovely seeing his impotent rage poffing before our very eyes.

Oh, and if you need any other proof that it's skewed towards the crazy side of the rightwing, it was founded by Matthew Continetti. Probably most famous for writing a book titled:

The Persecution of Sarah Palin: How the Elite Media Tried to Bring Down a Rising Star

Yeah. He's a real paragon of journalistic balance.

@collioure @TyPollard @mantisdragon91

...also, my reason is partially in your answer.

You say, "Republicans put their corporate sponsors ahead of almost everything."

This is the difference. Democratic platform is to put the 99% of the people ahead of almost anything.

It is a platform thing AND it is the right thing to do for America.

Sue_N
Sue_N

@MementoMori @collioure @TyPollard @mantisdragon91 Yeah, that would explain why it's so easy to get a bunch of Democrats to vote the same way all the time, right? And why we saw all those Democrats standing resolutely together when those insurance cancellation stories hit, right?

Jeez.

TyPollard
TyPollard

@collioure @TyPollard @mantisdragon91

Because I believe there are already many Democrats that fit that description. and even the corrupt ones have shown a willingness to put forward good faith at times.

Republicans are not offering any policies that fit my fantasy.

In fact that have abandoned old Republican ideas (ACA and immigration reform) after they were adopted by Obama.
