The White House announced Friday the formation of a “Task Force on Climate Preparedness and Resilience” to help guide federal policy in responding to the impacts of climate change.
“State, local and tribal leaders across the country are already contending with more frequent or severe heat waves, droughts, wildfires, storms and floors, and other impacts of climate change,” the White House said in a statement.
The task force, the White House said, will advise the Obama administration on how federal policy can boost preparedness by supporting “climate resilient investments,” managing land and water resources, providing data and tools for climate preparedness and planning for climate change-related risk.
