Democratic Super PAC Begins Hillary Defense Effort

Hillary Clinton is silhouetted by a stage light as she speaks at the University of the Western Cape about the U.S.-South Africa partnership, in Cape Town August 8, 2012.

Democratic Super PAC American Bridge is launching a campaign to protect former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and other potential Democratic presidential candidates from attacks by Republicans.

The new rapid-response group, called Correct the Record, “will aggressively challenge false right-wing attacks before they take hold and expose the fraudulent sources of these attacks to the public,” said American Bridge founder and chairman David Brock in a statement. American Bridge, which has traditionally been focused on tracking and opposition research on Republican candidates, said the Super PAC would devote more than 20 staffers and researchers to the effort.

The group will not be exclusively Clinton-focused, according to a person familiar with the effort, but her larger target will make defense of her a key mission. Last month Brock released an e-book called “The Benghazi Hoax” to push back on Republican attacks on Clinton over the 2012 consulate attack.

The group announced that Burns Strider, the director of faith-based outreach for her 2008 Presidential campaign, will be a senior advisor to the effort, the latest former Hillary aide to join an outside effort on her behalf.

The group Ready for Hillary has the backing of former White House Political Director Craig Smith and former senior advisor Harold Ickes. Priorities USA, the pro-Obama Super PAC from 2012, is also positioning itself to back Clinton, should she decide to run.

Leave it to Smellery to begin a "defense" fund before anyone "attacks" her in the upcoming presidental elections she's ruled out like clockwork every 6 weeks for years on end.  "look at me! lookat at me! I promise I won't run!".

Just what America needs, Bush's and Clinton's ruling for 30 years.  Oh so Democratic.

Time sucks, btw.

who am I to say the government spends to much is a completely sophomoric statement of someone who is not old enough to understand economics.....the price index has increased over 1000 percent in 20 years..that means that money currency or capitol has lost value....as money looses value all economies suffer, people loose jobs, things cost to much further ruining the value of money....spend frivolously and money is slowly ruined...thus the government who spends 800 dollars on toilet seats...pays contractors under the table a raised price (some ones brother in law), using taxpayers money to party(irs) and the government not only ruins businesses who create all the wealth and tax revenue the government gets in the first place, creating unending devaluation of money...,now since you brought up the point and you don't understand it, it proves your ignorant vote hurts all in the same economy. you should take a couple college level econ courses and get a few decades of experience before you create a freshman argument.....the government is you and me and I say stop the machine of ignorance...the usa government or you your children and you future family wont have a say at all...grow up.

as usual dems and libs look for someone to blame instead of getting the job done......I would have kept the over spending government shut down indefinitely to save the real taxpayers money, and the government employees can go get real jobs instead of having jobs that only have one purpose, to create red tape and piles of nonsense in the name of keeping the usa in economic rich times..people like you only have a big mush idea that weighs down every other single person...go get a life you fool.

guy? and what do women who do a bad job have business representing the American public...mrs Clinton couldn't control her husband, got people killed at her job on mr obamas cabinet. mrs irs didn't do her job, and the country pays for these mistakes....and by crooked and scummy I should say ignorant and prideful, whether a woman could or couldn't do the job, and it hasn't been done very well for the last 5 years, the job is important and if people would rather have a woman at the top position just because they are not only ignorant and prideful they personally are responsible for the murder, the unemployment, the economic rape of the usa....by the people of the people. not man vs woman or democrat vs republican......your a sexist aren't you.

Hillary Clinton:  Whitewater to Benghazi, the woman of lies and coverups for three decades now....  The idea that she's a frontrunner for president shows how stupid the American people are and how amoral the Democratic Party has become.

@MichaelGilchrease How do you know how old I am?

Is the US dollar weak? Why are other countries still willing to buy US treasury bonds? The 800 dollar toilet seat story is just about 20 years old. Can you provide any evidence that anything you say is true?

You have got nothing tea bagger.

How are you gonna tell people to take college economics when you obviously haven't taken elementary level English? I can't even make sense of the trailing off drivel you wrote. Try a capital letter every now and then, gomer.

@MichaelGilchrease I would have kept the over spending government shut down indefinitely to save the real taxpayers money, and the government employees can go get real jobs instead of having jobs that only have one purpose, to create red tape and piles of nonsense in the name of keeping the isa in economic rich times..people like you only have a big mush idea that weighs down every other single person...go get a life you fool.

Who are you to say government spends to much? Historically taxes are at a all-time low, our infrastructure is disintegrating, basic scientific research for giving our future generation a leg up on the rest of the world gutted, hungry people denied food, no jobs to be had for the unemployed, people dying young from the poorest healthcare system in the industrialized world, education system in disarray due to lack of funding and smart reforms, yea let's shut everything down.

Only an idiot would think we have not hit bottom with republican, libertarian policies yet.

@MichaelGilchrease  One line tweets.   Where's your guy?  Who will you put up to run against her?   Probably not a woman.  Recent polls show that only a quarter of Republicans thinks it's important to elect more women.

Of course, the women in the Senate helped reopen the government after the shut down.  Those pesky Democratic/Republican women.

@Chosun1 Who will your side put up to counter this smart, informed  female who has worked to make America a better place since she was a teenager helping migrant workers with their children?

@La_Randy @MichaelGilchrease republicans fend for themselves.....they hold and protect wealth, not social policy which is always changing mostly because it does not work.....and the future problem is not idealogy as you so try to push.....the only people in the last 30 years that have protected the usa and its money are republicans and the only meddling problems this country has is done by democrats...keep your argument, you have no clue.

@BillyRubin @La_Randy @MichaelGilchrease Still nothing.

Why do you and Michael ignore that taxes are at historic lows or any of the other points I made?

As to your toilet seat story being 30 years old, you are right. Can you provide any evidence that this is still the case?

Michael's rambling word salad response make no sense to anybody with a modicum of sense.

If you want me to break down his ignorance for you I will, word for word.

@MichaelGilchrease @La_Randy Too funny Michael. Which party is responsible for the greatest increases in the Federal Debt since 1970?  Ahh...that would be the Republican party.

@jmac @MichaelGilchrease really, like principle you don't understand and has saved this country over and over, but you don't think so because your obviously brain washed......and your pretty much rehashing the same sexist liberal non sense....do you own property, give charity, have time for schools and local politics? do you have no enemies and spend time at church? do you give of yourself? that is me, my republican friends and we only argue politics with people who have similar values don't candy coat the truth and don't take bs for an argument of hot air.(you sound like a kid in college who knew the world would change, now hes a importer wealthy and hates liberals...youll grow up the day you own your own...........grow up for the third time. without mr Reagan this country would be mexico.

@MichaelGilchrease @jmac  The GOP frontrunner is Cruz.  He's the one who orchestrated the shut down; he's the one who stopped it as soon as it would have hurt his pocketbook (Wall Street was watching),

It's the women in the Senate who opened Government back up.  I am looking around.  I see women looking for solutions; I see men acting like . . .

Romney, a true conservative? Get real.
