A national security staffer who tweeted under a pseudonym and leaked internal information for two years was fired by the White House last week.

The Daily Beast reports that Jofi Joseph, the nonproliferation director of the National Security Council, was the man behind the Twitter handle @natsecwonk, which became famous inside the Beltway in 2011 for criticizing White House policies, insulting Administration officials and leaking internal information.

One of the more famous tweets that ignited buzz in Washington disparaged a close adviser of President Obama’s: “I’m a fan of Obama, but his continuing reliance and dependence upon a vacuous cipher like Valerie Jarrett concerns me.”

Joseph, who previously worked as an adviser at the State Department and as a staffer for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, told Politico in an email, “It has been a privilege to serve in this Administration and I deeply regret violating the trust and confidence placed in me.”

The "National Security," staffer, has a legal right to "debate the issue," over Obama and his policies. He is not  a furor, and his position puts him up for scrutiny, NOT REMOVING HIM FROM SCRUTINY.  PRESIDENTS ARE ALWAYS SCRUTINIZED, THAT IS HOW OUR SYSTEM WORKS, THE RIGHT TO DEBATE THE ISSUES AND POLICIES, SO THAT WRONG DECISIONS ARE NOT MADE. No one should be fired from a government job for speaking out.

Well at least now we know what it takes to get fired in this administration.  Politicizing the IRS is O.K., four dead at Benghazi is O.K., blowing 300 million plus on a website that doesn't work is O.K., just don't criticize the Obama administration.

Very interesting! This incident seems to make it clear why establishing a good online reputation management (ORM) strategy is a wise investment nowadays. The Obama administration will now have to counter this PR disaster, especially since it was one of their own officials criticizing what the administration was doing behind closed doors. A company like Brand.com could help them monitor the buzz on this negative press, but an incident like this would've been handled better if they established countermeasures of such a fiasco beforehand.

Now, they're going to have to explain themselves to the public why Mr. Joseph's first amendment rights don't apply here. If you're going to trash your own boss (especially if he's the president of the U.S.), you're not only undermining his authority but jeopardizing his reputation as a leader as well. General Stanley McChrystal was fired for something very similar to this in 2010.

Freedom of speech!  I demand to see more tweets or the confidentiality agreement he signed.

Hate or love this administration; but when you take a job you sign off on the conditions. A violation of those conditions comes with a set of consequences. If you don't like the conditions, then don't join.

You see friends, this person Jofi Joseph, by his name I deduce he is one of the large number of jewish-American embedded in every administration of the USA. I can bet anyone that his tweets were about the lack of will from the president for not being able to bomb Iran, or at least starving them to death. This person like thousands are the ones that have gained the congress of the USA for the Zionists.

Of course we think the NSA is just gobbling up everything there is to know about us but it takes 2 years to track this guy down? We should be WAY more worried about incompetence than we are about tyranny.(Not that they are mutually exclusive.)

The Administration don't need people like this guy.  Next thing is to fire the people in charge of putting together the National Health Care computer system.  We have a dysfunctional GOP (Goof Off Politicians) in the house that are upset of having a black president and their only mission is to make sure Obama fail and just say no to Obama's agenda, we have boneheads in the supreme court that believes that Corporations are people, I mean give me a break, what are they smoking there, mushroom clouds?  - idiots, - The administration do not need dysfunctional people, that's already covered by the GOP.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would tweet or post under a fake name.

@BruceStrong You are very, very lucky to have elected this president. If you had elected the so called patriot rommey, in this moment you could have been in a big war against Iran, and a immense mess in the middle east, with China and Russia involved possibly in something more terrible. Do not forget that he had promised to fight China and take away its markets even by force. This imply the violation of the laws of Capitalism. So, little Bruce so strong, maybe in this moment with your candidate Rommey as a president, you could fighting or dying in the fields of the middle east. Be thankful your wishes didn't come true.

@Gabe79 Sounds more like you are looking in the mirror at a reflection of a dysfunctional, low-information person.

@KeillRandor, No, not you. I just dislike using my real name. It's Harry Bottomdanglenuts. High school was brutal and I'd rather not discuss it.
