Reid to Speaker: You’re Putting Your Job Before Your Country

The Senate Majority Leader says John Boehner lacks the courage to do what is right

During an interview with CNN this week, Harry Reid pulled no punches as he assaulted Speaker of the House John Boehner’s political performance in the month leading up to the shutdown of the federal government. According to Reid, the two had agreed on a deal that would have effectively prevented the impasse, but Boehner ended up bowing to pressure from hardline conservatives in the House resulting in the shutdown.

The Nevada Senator later admitted to leaking emails to the press to implicate the Speaker in backing out of their deal to support a clean budget bill.

Oh well - 'wingers are good for 2 things. Bad optics and kabuki theater. Doing what we pay them for - not so much. The fact that so many defend this unprecedented tempter tantrum at forcing their minority will on the rest of us, scary.

But by large I blame Media. Their constant 'both sides' meme is a blight on a functional democracy and an informed electorate.

Poor John, since the TPers took over his caucus he has lost his dignity, and when this is all over he'll likely lose his Speaker title.

Which isn't the end of the world, it's not as if he is using it.
