GOP Rep: I Have No Idea What the GOP Wants

But he sure as hell won't be dissed!

As the second day of the federal shutdown comes to an end, hardline elements within the Republican Party have made it clear that they will not budge until their demands are met. But what exactly are their demands? Republican House member Marlin Stutzman, for one, has no idea.

“We’re not going to be disrespected,” said Congressman Stutzman during an interview with the Washington Examiner on Tuesday.  “We have to get something out of this. And I don’t know what that even is.”

The GOP wants to be relevant to the people who they called unqualified for about 5 generations and who became qualified and educated beyond the roots of the GOP.  They are a bunch of old poops with too much power and too many guns and not an inkling of integrity.

He is unaware of the polls on what americans think of republicans. He doesn't realize before you can disrespect some one they have to have some. He never had any respect.

The headline is too long.  Should be...Congressman Stuntzman:  He Has No Idea.

When Roger Ailes, Fox, Karl Rove & the Koch Brothers built this monster, they neglected to give it a brain.

Friday, 9/20/13 - The House of Representatives passed a Continuing Resolution that would fully fund the government (including things that Republicans don't like) while at the same time defunding Obamacare.
Result: House Republicans compromised on spending that we'd like to see cut in exchange for defunding Obamacare.

Friday, 9/27/13 - The Senate stripped the defunding language out of the House passed Continuing Resolution and sent it back to the House.
Result: Harry Reid and Senate Democrats refused to compromise.

Saturday, 9/28/13 - The House of Representatives added two amendments to the Senate revised Continuing Resolution to delay Obamacare for one year (far from what we were originally willing to agree to) and repeal the medical device tax.
Result: House Republicans compromised away from defunding to delaying Obamacare for one year.

Monday, 9/30/13 - The Senate stripped the two amendments from the House passed Continuing Resolution and sent it back to the House.
Result: Harry Reid and Senate Democrats refuse to compromise one inch on Obamacare.

Monday, 9/30/13 - The House of Representatives responded by adding language to the Continuing Resolution to delay the individual mandate for a year and to take away the health care subsidies Members of Congress and their staffs received from the Office of Personnel Management ruling earlier this year.
Result: House Republicans compromised away from delaying Obamacare for one year to delaying the individual mandate for a year and requiring that Congress live under Obamacare just like the rest of the American people.

Monday, 9/30/13 - The Senate voted to table the House passed continuing resolution.
Result: Harry Reid and Senate Democrats refused to compromise

Monday, 9/30/13 - The House appointed conferees and sent a message to the Senate requesting a conference meeting to resolve their differences.
Result: House Republicans were still willing to compromise and reach a solution.

Tuesday, 10/1/13 - Midnight - No Deal is reach and a temporary shut down begins.

The moving target of GOP demands suggests what they all want: to harm the President, harm the government and, by extension, harm the country. And they want to keep their undeserved jobs by appeasing their traitorous Teatard base. That's it.

If you want a good laugh, check out Marlin Stutzman's Facebook page.  His cover photo shows him standing shoulder to shoulder with his buddies, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and somebody I don't recognize, but looks a lot like Martin Bormann (the dead Nazi).

The majority of comments getting posted on his page aren't exactly what you would call a love-fest for the guy who is now the new face of the Republicans behind the shutdown.  Probably as a result of the s__t storm he stirred up, Marlin has posted a tepid apology for his statement as well as a copy of a letter he sent to the House requesting he not get paid during the shutdown.

He can try to backpedal on this all he wants, but I think everybody knows he spoke his true conscious. He is a despicable man in a despicable party.  His comment in support of the GOP hostage taking will hang around his neck for a long time to come.

The question is not what the GOP wants to get from all this.  It is clear: what they really want is to shut down the government.  This suits the nihilistic Tea Party caucus' desire, basically, to render government impotent and to encourage what is essentially anarchy.

Why does the GOP want anarchy?  Quite simple.  It's a combination of two things: they have nothing else to offer + they really, really, really hate, hate, hate Obama.  Because of their distaste for the President, they'll do anything to make his time in office unproductive (from his point of view) and to make him look worse.  Because they have nothing to offer the American people, the shutdown is a distraction, or a smokescreen, for the vacuity of their agenda.

A man who seldom speaks the truth about anything just told us everything we need to know about today's GOP. Priceless.

“We’re not going to be disrespected,” said Congressman Stutzman during an interview with the Washington Examiner on Tuesday.  “We have to get something out of this. And I don’t know what that even is.”

What a drama queen. How about you do your job. Like negotiate when bills are crafted then pay the fudging bills when they come due. No one owes you craep. If you don't have the political power to repeal or push through your slop, then don't whine like a crybaby when you're called out on doing something undemocratic and unprecedented. You guys wanted this shutdown and now you're going to have to bend over, mea culpa and move on.

It's the adult thing to do. Can you handle it?

What a vile and contemptible group of people the GOP has become.  Marlin Stutzman's quote is all the proof anyone needs to see the GOP is resorting to extortion in an attempt gain what they know they are incapable of gaining through the democratic process.

Another typical example of the 'main stream news' misleading the public. The Senator knows exactly what the Repubs are after and the Washington Examiner knows it.

@IusDomina Why would they accept those measures?  What do they get in return?  The shutdown isn't hurting them personally (they are still getting paid) or professionally (republican's are by in large getting blamed).   What is their incentive to compromise under those conditions?

The republican's aren't offering anything that they would want, and certainly not enough to agree to mess with Obama's signature legislation and something democrats have been trying for decades to get.

If the republican's want to negotiate then they need to put something on the table that is equal to Obamacare.  I just don't see what that is.  Maybe a combination of immigration reform, gun control, and tax hikes?  I don't see the republicans doing that.

@DavidStrayer Oh of course!   And here I thought it was about the fact companies are being forced to drop their health insurance coverage for employees (UPS) or freedom of Religion (Catholic and Christian groups suing to protect their freedom of conscious)  or that people who do have health insurance right now will be forced to pay nearly 200% to 300% more on their premiums under Obamacare.  How you have enlighted me that it's really all about hate by a bunch of arachists.

You know, given this timeline, I really thought the republicans were trying to get the gov't funded and those poor sweet democrats were just be spoiled little brats and refusing to budge!

@sacredh @Sparrow55  Midterms are first!!!! Republicans count on low turnout in the midterms!!!! Historically there has not been a midterm with a turnout in the 40% range. That is how the nuts get elected and why gerrymandering works.  They depend on this. VOTE in the MIDTERMS!
