Democrats Go On Offense On Obamacare Defund Effort

The Democratic National Committee is taking a swing at congressional Republicans Friday, launching a new website aimed at rallying their base against GOP efforts to defund or delay Obamacare.

The DNC launched the website “ThisIsObamacare.com,” highlighting the popular provisions of the Affordable Care Act and the serial Republican votes to repeal them. Supporters of the bill are asked to join “Team Obamacare,” and when they select their state are presented with a list of benefits in their own backyard and provided with a list of Republicans to tweet at with the text, “I’m tired of Republicans like @johnboehner trying to take away my #Obamacare. Join me & fight back.”

Democrats say they will hold events nationwide in support of Obamacare in the coming weeks, and are promoting their effort with targeted web ads.

“ For years Republicans and their allies have tried to scare Americans about Obamacare,” said DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz in a statement. “As Obamacare’s benefits expand to help even more Americans, Republicans are doing everything in their power to stop it – even if it means driving the economy off a cliff. The simple fact is that Republicans are motivated by a fear that Americans will like Obamacare. Democrats know that Obamacare is good policy and we’re going to make sure Republicans pay a political price for trying to take it away.”

I am a 4th stage cancer patient on Medicaid thankfully receiving treatment at M.D. Anderson in Houston.Tonight, I listened to Congressmen, almost all men, preaching their concerns for jobs and businesses as they continue to fight against healthcare for America.America is the only major industrial nation which does not have a national healthcare system.While they are fighting to refine and delay healthcare as they also fought to refine and delay Civil Rights legislation, thousands of people are dying or being crippled or going bankrupt because of lack of medical care or outrageous medical bills. To deny or delay medical care is to kill people in the greatest nation on earth, it is a form of murder, it is a form of warfare.

I have had to listen to a fellow patient scream at me in a nursing home that I am an “animal” because I poured a glass of water and thus disturbed her religious arrogance, or talked on the phone with my family.  Today, I had a dishonest psychologist come to my nursing home, Medicaid bed to complain about the Democratic Dogs or animals on the internet.This fascist psychologist wants to “ help “ my mental health with insults and threats to anyone who questions the Republican Party’s right to continue murdering, bankrupting, and crippling Americans through medical neglect.Since when did being an elected member of Congress give you the right to murder people?For all those people like me who are on the border between living and dying, for whom another year is a life and death matter, please pray with me that Republican Congressmen and psychologists will see the light and stop treating Democrats as Dogs to be spayed and neutered or exterminated.This is America, my father and mother fought a War against concentration camps led by two Democratic Presidents.Let me remind you that people are dying, people are being crippled, going blind, and going bankrupt.Delay is murder.

Better late than never. The web site is a well-designed piece of agitprop, especially the recurring "And Republicans voted 40 times to take it away" theme. Too bad that probably only a small portion of the total population will check it out, let alone contribute. Interesting times.

@allthingsinaname Hey, the DNC launched a website, what do you want; a top-flight ad campaign since day one? C'mon, who would ever think of a thing like that?

@allthingsinaname Exactly. f they'd been this aggressive three years when it was passed, the baggers would have had one less thing to whine and lie about.

@Sue_N

It would have helped to have a media that searches out the truth instead of adapting the mindset of Chuck Todd.

@allthingsinaname

Ever since I wasted a whole day being led to believe a lie, I've given this whole media issue a second look.
