In this June 25, 2009 file photo, U.S. Senator John McCain watches as U.S. President Barack Obama meets with members of Congress to discuss immigration, in the White House in Washington, D.C.

President Barack Obama will meet Monday with Sen. John McCain in an attempt to enlist support for a military strike in Syria from his one-time White House rival.

Obama’s announcement over the weekend that he’ll seek congressional approval for a “limited” response to Syrian strongman Bashar Assad’s alleged use of chemical weapons in the country’s bloody civil war now turns the focus to skeptical Capitol Hill leaders like McCain.

But Obama has his work cut out for him. The Arizona Republican, who has pushed Obama to take more aggressive action against Syria, said during CBS’ “Face the Nation” Sunday that a U.S. strike there “can’t just be, in my view, pinprick cruise missiles.” And during an interview with an Israeli television network, McCain accused the president of having “encouraged our enemies” by seeking congressional support for a military response, the Associated Press reports.

If Congress votes down the pending intervention, the President can say he's hands are tied; if Congress approves it, he can strike harder than he wisely could have in going it alone.

No matter how the question is decided in Congress, the situation presents a win for the Constitution, a win for the President, and a win for the American people.

Just don't ask McCain to pilot a plane if we do attack.

@MaxBlumenthal On the bright side, that should be 1 more vote against the proposed missile attack.

Israel impatient for bloodshed to begin.

Headline from the Israeli Daily Haaretz

"Attack already, Obama, we want to like you for a change"

Sub-Headline, from the same article:

"Mr. Israeli has gone from being a fierce critic of Barack Obama to a conditional fan - the condition being an attack on Syria."

The President has stated his case to America. Now it's up to Congress to go on record with it's decision (once it gets back from vacation).

Right now, the threat of a U.S. attack is actually more powerful than the attack itself. The threat has put Assad on the defensive. And even if Congress votes not to attack, that's okay too, as long as chemical weapons are not used again. Because the threat of attack may a be sufficient to deter another use of chemical weapons.

But if Assad uses chemical weapons again, then look for the President to launch an immediate attack without waiting on a decision from Congress.

MR OBAMA, YOU HAVE NO SHAME. The breaking of International Law, in your opinion is worthy of kissing mr Mac Cain ass and is worthier than to succeed with your government. You see, mr Obama, if you have been blind these last 5 years, this Senator, together with the Republicans, included absolutely in this the Tea Party, have blocked all the good legislation that your government needed to succeed, but it seems that your hatred for a foreign head of State has blocked your ability to think sanely.

It is not the gas attack, mr Obama, what is leading your behaviour, but it looks like that the pressure from some dark personages that are taking over you sanity. Don't you think, mr Obama, that in a conflict, where your government has been involved or in others during the past where your country has also been involved, there are always these civilians being sacrificed in the altar of bellicose men who don't distinguish between civilians and combatants? Do you think, mr Obama, that there is a difference between the civilians, women and children, being pulverized by Napal, Powerful bombs  or Phosphorous bombs and those killed, women and children, killed  by gas? Are they different mr Obama? THEY ARE ALL DEAD! It doesn't matter how they were killed, what it matters is that these conflicts in the 20th century have been all induced by your country intromission in the affairs of foreign countries. This is the reality, mr Obama. What is the next chapter, mr Obama? The pulverization of Iran, because it satisfies the hegemony of the Zionist state. When is it going to be an end?  What about the Palestinian women and children with no future, mr Obama?

Seems like a waste of time to meet with McCain.  Has there ever been an instance for  which McCain did not endorse military action of some sort?  Bomb, bomb, bomb _______(fill in the blank).

@ToddGilbert Well, the Middle Eastern war for WMDs that the War Criminal Obama wants to launch may be the first.

The Obama-Kerry WMD Report is VERY convincing... here are the contents:  "Trust Us!!!"

@GrowAmerica - Uh huh.If Assad uses chemical weapons again, we'll look for Obama to draw another line in the sand and say "you BETTER not!!!!  you BETTER not!!!!  you BETTER not!!!!  you BETTER not!!!!"

@RamonRoman Palestinian women and children are free to have whatever future they can make for themselves, so long as the palestinian men stop killing isreali women and children with rockets and bombs. The situation in palestine is not rocket science. Just accept the fact that Isrealis have a right to live there (which the obviously do) and make an effort to get along with them, rather than trying to "destory"' them.

It is an open truth and reality, that Israel has a chemical weapons stockpile and a nuclear stockpile. Mr Obama, Why do you think the Zionists have this?

MaxWright1
MaxWright1

@flameworker2 Obviously, he's meeting with McCain because he wants to bomb. He's looking for support where ever he can get it.

@ViableOp We live in a barbaric world where cruel things are done by evil people all the time.

@MaxWright1 @RamonRoman Finally, mr Max, you see sir, the Zionist state has perfected the are of assassination, deceit and betrayal to the extreme. So, for them it would be extremely easy to get rid of a foe, as Assad, using this art in the killing of women and children and blame for this the Syrian government. You see, according to the Zionist propaganda, they are democratic and more credible than this awful Arab head of state. Now, with the Zionist history of crimes and assassination and kidnapping in the world, could there be any doubt that they proceeded to do the barbarous murders of children. If they killed amercan soldiers and nothing happened to them in the opinion of the American citizens, then what could happen if they are caught with this crime. In the end and with the opinion of some fanatics, the Arabs are worth less than the Israelis. THE END JUSTIFIES THE MEANS.

@RamonRoman To protect themselves from all the a$$holes around thm who want to "wipe them off the face of the earth."

@MaxWright1 @RamonRoman you see, sir, with people like you is useless to debate. If you, of course, have noticed, the defenders of the Zionists state, always use the same tired, stupid and ignorant answers to respond. These responses have only one thing in common: Ignorance of history and a big dose of fanaticism, religious or of the other kind.

If you are going to be an unbiased witness of history, you just have to read and learn it, but if you are going to use your opinion to repeat like a popinjay all the propaganda expressed by the Zionists to excuse their crimes, then you have the right to do it.

Look, sir, I always give one example of the Zionist agenda and their ways to reach it, and if you are not a Zionist and if you are an American, then think about this: During the 1948 conflict between the Arabs and the just formed Zionist state, there was an account that the American government was going to use a nuclear bomb against Egypt to definitely establish without opposition the Zionist state. It wasn't done, but something happened (You can read all the version about this, done during that time, but there is no rational explanation) that involved, proven, the empathy that the Zionists have for friends and foes. There was an American spy ship in the waters surrounding the conflict. This ship, the USS LIBERTY, at a certain moment was idle and her seamen were resting on board, when suddenly  Israelis Airgun planes appeared and started shooting at the ship, that that ship had the American flag for anybody to see. Then several Israelis ships appeared and started bombing the American ship. According to some historians, the orders were to sink the ship with all the crew on board.  But there was another ship, a Russian one, witnessing all of the this, and the trators withdrew leaving ONLY 34 American seamen dead. If you read the accounts of that time, the American government put a muzzle to all the press of that time.

You see, sir, these are the so called friends of the USA. Aah , and don't forget, this friend has also spied on the USA, and for this you can go to the spy mr Pollard, an officer of the American navy that is still doing his time in prison. And I am more than sure than the MOSSAD IS STILL OPERATING INSIDE THE GULLIBLE USA.
