Politicos Kick It Old School on Instagram

Senators and Governors were young once, too.

Among the Twitterati, the acronym “TBT” refers to “throwback Thursday.” The label is an excuse for social media users to share awww-inducing baby pictures or prom photos that feature unfortunate hair at least once per week. And political personalities, who tout hashtags like American flags these days, aren’t missing out on the trend. It’s a double-whammy after all: hopping on the bandwagon makes them look (relatively) hip and sharing old snapshots, especially cheesy ones, paints them as “one of the people.” Voters can’t resist a little peak behind the curtains.

From Michelle Obama to Chris Christie, here is a selection of photos from the past that politicos have been posting:

I'm still looking for that "peak behind the curtain" referenced above. Nowhere to be seen. Don't you folks utilize copy editors anymore?

In the spirit of the 'mockery' brought up by deconstructiva below:

Thanks, Katy, a nice diversion from the usual political nonsense. Of course, if the usual daily trolls choose to come here (you know who they are), they'll probably post Obama photos as mockery, as has been done at MMR posts (why they're still allowed to vandalize the site is a mystery, it certainly has nothing to do with free speech as this is private property). The acronym NFT (no feeding Thursday) used to have meaning here.

However, I also propose that the swamp reporters do the same on TBT and post their own (and YOUR own) early pix too. In a sense, Jay Newton-Small already started this awhile back when she used one of her toddler photos as her Twitter avatar. Let's see more of y'all too! Carpe diem.
