Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch looks over at former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford during the South Carolina 1st Congresional debate in Charleston, South Carolina April 29, 2013.

“When we talk about fiscal spending, and we talk about protecting the taxpayers, it doesn’t mean you take that money we saved and leave the country for a personal purpose.”
— Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch to former Republican Gov. Mark Sanford in their debate for the seat of the first district of South Carolina last night.

I sincerely hope Ms. Colbert-Busch wipes the floor with Sanford.

Mark, the writing is on the wall:

The little head rules the big head.

The little head rules the big head.

The little head rules the big head.

It will be interesting to see if Sanford can elevate his chances above "Not a shot in hell".  All I know is that I wouldn't want to be him knowing that I've got a ready-made punchline on my resume, and an opponent whose brother is a professional comedian with a huge following.

Good luck, Mark!

Well, that'll leave a Mark.

It will be interesting how many times and how many ways Sanford's infidelity will be mentioned without actually mentioning it.

@grape_crush I think it will be interesting to see if the right-wing in this state follows the tribe or sends this trail hiker down the road. There may be hope for us in the south after all.

His indesgression is now on the order of Ricky Santorum's Google "problem".... it's now a cultural phenomenon and part of the political language.   His political future is now the appearance of a piece of lightly-burned bread, i.e.. toast.

Hard to be taken seriously when people snicker when you approach the microphone.

I wonder how long before Ms. "Appalachian Trail" figures out that her fiance has no political future and decided she misses Argentina?
