Still surprised that the death toll isn't higher.  I pray that it doesn't and also pray for the victims and loved ones.

@nflfoghorn

Bombs were placed in garbage cans and were amateur design so likely fairly low yield.  Explosion would've primarily been directed straight up where most people wouldn't be with secondary vector being blowing pieces of the garbage can outward at lower body height.  I'm expecting that 2 is the final number of on-scene deaths and then we'll see a few more who die from blood loss due to leg damage but I would expect the roof to be about 5.

Since they already recovered one in-tact, likely means this was the presumed method of detonation.  Also explains delay between two initial bombs

Is the Library near the track.  IE: is there any reason for a planner to believe that people from the marathon would end up there?

no reported injuries, unsure if related, being treated as it is.

 Update 4:07 p.m.: Newtown families were reportedly seated in the VIP section right by where the explosions went off. There's no word whether they are among the 23 injured and two dead from the explosions.

No C4, no professional-grade explosives reported as used. Lots of lower-body injuries.

Wife just pointed out: Cell phone towers get swamped after crisis.  Might be reason third bomb wasn't detonated.

Unless they suspect that it was not an intended explosion (eg: some monitor fried or something), I doubt that.  Explosions don't happen that often.
