Too bad Sacred isn't here. This thread is rich material.

A little humor:

"Michele Bachmann Accidentally Booked on Gay Cruise"

"The duo's anti-gay positions don't seem to be causing any animosity aboard the Rainbow Warrior, however. A source on board the vessel says Marcus has attracted the attention of the passengers and was even voted "cutest bear" on the ship's traditional Bear vs. Twink night."

NRA's new beat: Meet the young guns

The National Rifle Association introduced new "commentators" for its news website, where a trio of young adult gun owners aim to debunk what they consider common myths and misunderstandings about firearms.

In a highly-produced video segment released Monday on NRA News and perhaps aimed to break stereotypes of gun owners, the organization showcases a blogger who writes about guns for women, a former Navy SEAL, and an "urban gun enthusiast."

Reminds me of a tactic used by Big Tobacco lobbies, another merchant of death.

Arguing with anti-gay bigots

Though the conservatives peddling this line would have you believe otherwise, it doesn’t really matter whether or not, in their heart of hearts, they are actual bigots — just as it doesn’t matter if, in their heart of hearts, the opponents of ending Jim Crow laws were die-hard racists. It doesn’t matter because public policy isn’t about the feelings and emotions of individual legislators — it is about whether or not the law is inherently prejudiced and, thus, at odds with the Constitution. And quite clearly, laws denying identical legal recognition to same-sex couples as to heterosexual couples violate both the spirit and letter of the 14th Amendment’s mandate against denying equal legal protection to any individual or group (in fact, this truism is precisely why in the case being heard this week, the Supreme Court may end up invalidating civil unions and domestic partnerships laws on the grounds that they embody the previously discredited “separate but equal” concept).

What Is Marriage? From the Authors of the Book

"A & G: There is no wrong side of history; there’s only the wrong or right side of the truth. Marriage is founded on the anthropological truth that men and women are different and complementary, the biological truth that reproduction involves a male and female, and the social truth that children benefit from a mother and father."

The logic is inescapable, but that never stopped the left from wandering into the fever swamps.

Falklands lawmakers: 'We have no desire to be governed by Argentina'

Falkland Islands lawmakers say they won't back down in the face of Argentina's efforts to claim the South Atlantic territory.

Residents of the islands, which Argentina calls the Malvinas, voted earlier this month to remain under British rule. That leaves no room for debate, lawmakers from the islands wrote in a letter to the United Nations published online Monday.

"The referendum result makes it clear that we have no desire to be governed by Argentina," they wrote. "Continued harassment of our economic development and intimidation of those who want to do business with us and invest in the islands will not change this fact. The more Argentina presses our small community, the harder will be our resolve."

If you marry a person of the opposite sex does that make you a hater and a bigot?

@La_Randy"Michele has vociferously opposed same-sex marriage from her perch in the U.S. House of Representatives..."

So she's a bird. Vulture perhaps?

@La_Randy

The six day jaunt on the all-gay Atlantis Cruise Lines was mistakenly booked after Marcus Bachmann visited a Minneapolis travel agent who assumed he was gay.

Ha!

Next thing you know Wayne LaPierre will put on a baseball cap, turn it backwards and start beat-boxing and "rapping" about how "cool" guns are. A to the R to the 15 biatches....

Great writing:

(Although the argument that the Court should not rule in favor of marriage equality because there will ensue raging and Bible-banging and poo-flinging drives me straight up the wall. To quote Charlie Skinner from The Newsroom: "I'm too old to live my life in fear of dumb people.")

Marriage equality? Doesn't that just mean that a man shares the housework with his wife?

@retiredvet This issue is yet another nail in the coffin that is the Republican party a fact that even they are starting to realize.

If that little d-bag Perkins wants to get physical I will be the first in line to whoop his arse. Then I will ask him how it felt getting his arse kicked by a fairy.

@MementoMori Translation- We'd kill to deny others equal rights. A sentiment Hitler, Stalin, and Mao would have been proud off.

@MementoMori The only thing these guys rise up against is their own latent tendencies. As the Right wing proves time and time again its acceptable to solicit and pay gays for sex, but heaven forbid they'd want to be allowed to marry.
