“The bombs that went off in Kabul and Khost [Saturday] were not a show of power to America, but were in service to America...It was in the service of foreigners not withdrawing from Afghanistan.”
— Afghan President Hamid Karzi claiming Sunday that the Taliban suicide bombings, which killed at least 18 people, are part of a joint U.S.-Taliban plot so that U.S. combat forces can stay in the country beyond their 2014 deadline for pulling out. U.S. officials denounced the claim as "totally false."

For someone who would reduced to be mayor of Kabul without coalition support, he really seems to have lost it.  Just who was this for because the American Congress is crazy enough to decide that December 31, 2013 is long enough to put up with his style of country leadership.

He knows it. The question is of course will he be able to leave the country before the shit hits the fan. Here's me hoping he won't.

I'm trying to imagine scenarios where Karzi is speaking the truth and am having a hard time thinking of any that don't sound insane.

I'm trying to imagine scenarios where his claims actually help him.  He's in bed with the Americans, he's trying to make nice with the Taliban, he insulted both of them, and he either has made bad alliances, is knowingly propping up continued American activity that is causing terror in his country, is unable to control the Americans or is simply lying.  Under none of these circumstances does he win any votes with these statements.
