“It’s a little like a dysfunctional family right now, where everybody knows old Uncle Joe at the end of the table’s an alcoholic, but nobody wants to say it. And somebody needs to say it. We need to get Joe some help. Come on, he’s ruined too many Christmas parties!”— Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK) on the state of the Republican party to the New Yorker.
When are we going to admit that Uncle Joe doesn't really want help? That would involve changing behaviors, and ol' Joe just isn't interested in that. What Joe wants is just some Visine and mouthwash so he can look presentable while he continues to drink himself into oblivion.
And Uncle Joe is a mean drunk.
The allegedly less-crazy R's whine a lot about their TP brethren and other GOP dysfunctions but they sure as hell don't actually do much if anything to clean up their own mess.
"We need to get Joe some help. Come on, he’s ruined too many Christmas parties!”
Then they need to quit having the parties at Uncle Joe's house. If "Uncle Joe" is a euphemism for the Tea Party, there is no hope for Uncle Joe. He's calling the shots and holding everyone else at the party for ransom.
Is there any reason why Oklahoma keeps some of the dumbest most ignorant reps?
I understand (and find loathsome) reps that play on peoples ignorance, but between this guy and Inhofe we're not just thinking about smartipants - we're talking about reps with their underwear on their heads just like their voters.
Yeah, they all believe that, if Uncle Joe would just put on a different tie and shirt, or drink a different brand of booze, everything would be fine.
The fact that they are willingly supplying him with the alcohol seems to be lost on them...
In this case, Uncle Joe screams "You're the one that needs help!" if you try to help him. He's right, you're wrong. Case closed.
@MrObvious Oklahoma is Texas without the sophistication.
They held down uncle Joe while FOX news and Rush poured a never ending bottle of booze down their gullet.
