“90 percent of the contributions to the ideas and the consummation of the plan was Canadian. And the movie gives almost full credit to the American CIA. And with that exception, the movie is very good.”— Former President Jimmy Carter on Ben Affleck's movie 'Argo' to CNN's Piers Morgan.
@AngelDevil1166 It's a good movie. When they say "Based on a true story" at the start of a film, it does mean that it will be all factual.
Exceptional in exactly what way?
Exceptionally good at rewriting history?
Sorry I am more inclined to what your Former President Carter has to say on the accuracy of the events that transpired in Iran, than some script-writer.
I guess what really matters is that a group of Americans were protected from harm by the exceptional efforts of a group of Canadians, Brits and Kiwis. With some help from your CIA.
No need to say thanks to anyone outside the exceptional US of A. Argo does a wonderful job of that!!!
Thank You Mr. Affleck.
P.S. If the film thing doesn't work out you can always turn your talents to publishing textbooks on American history.
Thank you Jimmy Carter! This movie could have celebrated the Canadian-American relationship by just telling the truth. Instead we got a typical "raw raw raw America is the best raw raw raw" type of movie.
We always save the world. It has to be that way. America is not only exceptional, we're exceptionally exceptional.
I take exception to that
It was an OK movie but not a "best picture" movie, not even close. Why this is getting such accolades when Munich was snubbed years ago is beyond me.
Have you seen "Beasts of the Southern Wild"? It was terrible. It wasn't even the best movie I watched that day and it's the only one I watched.
@sacredh I totally agree with your assessment of this movie.
I was totally excited to see Munich but I found it lacking in many ways. I have a lot a patience but even I found Munich to be too long and slow.
