Our President is heading to Israel and will receive a medal of honor that will be a first for an American President.
The Presidential Medal of Distinction "for making "a unique and significant contribution to strengthening the State of Israel and the security of its citizens," .

And while we're on this sports kick, would anyone care who won the Daytona pole if his name wasn't Danica Patrick? Wake me when she actually wins a race BTW.

His? Plumbing problem.
OT, but on a sad note, Dr. Jerry Buss passed away. Thanks for Showtime Jerry and RIP.
@sacredh Poor Clippers. Even when after 40 years they're finally good no one talks about them.
Plus, Kobe gets 30 million next year. The Lakers are looking at 80-90 million just in luxury taxes/penalties next season if they sign Howard to the max.
I think it goes deeper than that. Jim Buss is not half the man his father is when it comes to basketball smarts. Nash will be 40 on his birthday and has two more years after this one on his contract. Gasol is due almost 20 miliion next season and I can't see Dwight putting up with another year of Kobe ragging on him
@sacredh Kobe is in the same boat as Shaq was with him. He'll either stay a Laker or move on to a team where he can be the 'it' guy.
Kobe lives and dies with every win/loss. When the final buzzer sounds, Dwight forgets about it. It's like putting a match to gasoline with Kobe. The Lakers have the wrong coach for Howard. 6-8 shots a game for Dwight is ridiculous. He needs at least 15/game and he's not going to get it in that offense.
@sacredh If the Magic have to suffer without him the 'Lakes should with him. DH is indeed a big baby.
I think Howard walks at the end of the season. Dwight and Kobe do not get along at all. Dwight is thin skinned and Kobe is constantly in the press alienating him.
@sacredh I strongly believe he blocked Jeannie's desire to have her boyfriend/fiance Phil Jackson coach the team. The guy who replaced Mike Brown can't cut it and he'll be gone by season's end regardless. They'd better watch it or the Lakers could become what the 49ers went through after DeBartolo left.
@nflfoghorn I'm gonna watch it, Foggy. As mad as I know it will make me, I think it's important to remind ourselves just how badly our own government played us, and how shamefully complicit the press was.
What's interesting to me is that the right, which sees a conspiracy in everything Obama does and seems so eager to take up arms against his administration, still defends what Dubya and his crew did. McCain can't stop yapping about Benghazi, but he's perfectly fine with Iraq. It's just mind-boggling.
@sacredh I am with you on this. After I watched it in total last night, the only thing I had to say to my wife was " that is a strange movie".
I'm really not the person to judge the artistic merit of movies. I like popular culture films much more than I should. I just wasn't entertained at all by that movie. I don't mind movies that make me think, but all I could think of was "F*** this. It sucked". We watched Hitchcock too and I loved that movie.
The little girl was amazing, but I didn't like the movie at all. Not at ALL. I'm very easily entertained, but it was just depressing from the get-go.
@sacredh 'Haven't seen it either, but I'm guessing you have to really suspend reality past the Marvel superhero stage to watch it.
Yes, I got another book of quotes for Christmas. I finally got around to reading it this past week. Consider this a warning.
I think there's life in outer space, sure. But they think we're the Alabama of the universe. They know we're here: they just want nothing to do with us. - Tom Rhodes
@sacredh Alabama and Nebraska exist from September thru January.
[Same for Iowa, except when an election comes up. So I guess that makes it three things that come from there....]
@sacredh I was thinking more New Hampshire - it exists, but only every quadrennial.
President's Day! Wheee!! Double-time!!! I'd like to thank all the tax-payers for the extra cash.
@sacredh See? There you go, you godless commie gubmint-workin' slacker, livin' high on the hog off the sweat of honest, God-fearin' taxpayers' toil. Or something.
Another quote: I don't mind doing an honest day's work, I just want a week's pay for it - Joey Adams
