@apr2563 I'm reading "Blues People, Black Music in White America" from 1963 and I found a quote that's still true today. "One of the most persistent traits of the Western white man has always been his fanatical and almost instinctive assumption that his system and ideas about the world are the most desirable, and further, that people who do not aspire to them are savages or enemies".
@roknsteve I'll have to look for the book. A book that has had a huge impression on my is The Warmth of Other Suns. It records the experiences of 3 African Americans who experienced the Great Migration from the south to the north and the west. It confirms what your quote.
@roknsteve @apr2563 Found it on Amazon. Not on Kindle so I will have to actually buy the paperback. Sounds fascinationg.
@apr2563 @roknsteve It's written by Leroi Jones and the publisher is Perennial/HarperCollins. This reprint is from 2002 so it's still in print. I think I read it in the sixties but my musical knowledge now makes for better understanding.
Now let's all be paulejb and apply this racism to every single member of the GOP base. Fair is fair.
@DonQuixotic It is a pattern that is supported by a party that remains silent or insinuates support for the craziest elements of the party. When you allow Limbaugh, Hannity and other extremists speak for you, you are culpable.
@DonQuixotic @apr2563 Actually, i think that was 3x. But maybe paulie jumped on the bandwagon. He's never been what you might call sane.
I don't disagree. Paul harps about an "unreported" race war whereas we report on one that is right out there for everyone to see.
Donald Trump to sue Bill Maher for proving that he's not the son of an orangutan
Before you ask, no I'm not making this up. This is really happening.
I've noticed I have a blue arrow in my profile now. Does anyone else see one in their own or is this just some new LiveFyre thing?
Sometimes my icon looks like Linda Blair from The Exorcist. It either spits pea soup at me or pees on my rug. Is this happening to anybody else?
@DonQuixotic I hadn't noticed this before, but you appear to have your location given in your profile. I just updated my profile with my location and have a blue pin as well. That and a buck will get us a cup of coffee, apparently...
@kbanginmotown @DonQuixotic Sorry guys, I don't see any blue pins in either of your profiles. Was it too much coffee this morning?
She missed her opportunity to become a "truly great SOS"? Where would he place her predecessor??

Perhaps Bobby can get Hillary to vouch for him?
@paulejb Hey Paulie, Michael Brown of FEMA infamy just reported on your race war at the Super Bowl. There really is a race war and it's sponsored by Tighty Whitey.

A picture is worth a thousand words.
@paulejbI've said it before, I'll say it again.
Rightwingers suck at Photoshop.
@paulejb No wonder Bobby Jindal called you the Stupid Party if idiot cartoons is all you can offer.
Yeah, it's not the usual conservative political cartoon without a word to identify every single thing in the picture and an absurd caricature of Obama.
@kbanginmotown @DonQuixotic @nflfoghorn @paulejb
I'll take the mystery box.
@kbanginmotown @DonQuixotic @nflfoghorn @paulejb Explain now! EXPLAIN NOW!!!!
@DonQuixotic @nflfoghorn @paulejb
Would you like paulejb to explain now? Or, wait 'til you get home?
"Chicago murder rate far worse than during Al Capone 'gangland' days"
http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news%2Fiteam&id=8977635
Al Capone would be horrified. Chicago now has a St Valentine's Massacre every week.
Chicago now has a St Valentine's Massacre every week.
Thank you Wayne LaPierre
@paulejb Paulie, although not true, does that make your racist republican heart flutter with joy?
In January 1929 there were 26 killings. Forty-two people were killed in Chicago last month, the most in January since 2002, and far worse than the city's most notorious crime era at the end of the Roaring Twenties.
Dumb. Per-capita the 1929 rate is much higher. And then there's this:
The 42 murders in January is nowhere near the most ever in a month, but even that figure is not from the rat-a-tat-tat years. It is from the early 90s, when police also said a mix of gangs and drugs fueled the tremendous number of killings.
In January 1992 there were 77 murders in Chicago. That is the January record. Most of the murders then and this year were with guns. That was also the case in 1929.

' "When the president shows up, it shows ultimate national seriousness," said Jackson, a Chicago resident. He also called for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to help patrol the streets of Chicago.'

So you know it's a problem but you're upset that they want the Government to do something about it. Double standards much, Paul?

I thought that Iran already launched a monkey into space?
@kbanginmotown @DonQuixotic @paulejb
I was hoping someone would pick up on that cue. :-)
