Hail to the Pooch: Bo the First Pup’s First Term

Forget President Obama — today America’s favorite and most adorable First Pup begins his second term as master of the White House. Bo, the First Family’s famed Portuguese water dog, began his top-canine career in 2009 as a fulfilled election-win promise from the President to his daughters and as a gift from late Senator Ted Kennedy. With a pedigree like that, Bo had a lot to live up to. But whether sniffing out squirrels along the South Lawn perimeter, keeping that fluffy tuxedo coat well groomed or even sitting still for official portraits, Bo pulled it off like the pro that he is. And it looks like he doesn’t have to worry about any competition. In his November acceptance speech, President Obama told his daughters Sasha and Malia that “for now, one dog’s probably enough.”

OT, but Fringe just ended it's run. Here's a little conjecture. Walter took Michael (child observer) into the future to change the course of human evolution and stop the invasion of the past by the Observers from 2609. When did Walter take Michael to? 2167. Given Walter's fondness for psychedelics and classic rock, the date 2167 is particularly appropriate. 2167 would be the 200th anniversary of the Summer of love and also the 200th anniversary of the release of Sgt. Pepper's Lonley Hearts Club Band. That really made me smile.

Chef (chuckling to himself): I liked making the Barack cookies that the president had me make for the republicans. Nothing says "Eat me" like a good cookie.

This is how TIME observes the legal swearing in of BHO's second term? A post about a dog?

Half of the guys at work had their own "swearing-in" ceremony. Such a joy to behold.

@sacredh Heh-it does take a while for some to come to peace with reality.

Pnnto, when I went in to work this morning I told one of the guys on midnight that Roberts had had a heart attack and that Obama had made Kagan Chief Justice. His jaw just dropped. I started laughing and said that I was just kidding and that I wanted to soften the blow of Obama getting sworn in again.

@sacredh Sort of goes against the "tough guy" image the rightists have cultivated.

And yet isn't surprising. My republican cow-workers take more of a "everyone stinks" attitude when they lose. Or when they know will, like last November.

Come to peace? I thought some of the guys were taking estrogen shots and watching "Love Story".
