Odd. There appears to be no mention of a ban on the DOJ selling "assault weapons" to Mexican drug cartels in the president's 23 proposals. Could it be an oversight?

It's time that we had a legal definition of what an executive order is, since it has no clear basis in the US Constitution.

Never fear, Gov. Goodhair has the answer: Prayer, not laws, will stop gun violence. So clearly the Sikhs in Oak Creek just weren't praying hard enough.

That's not that far of a stretch than when Mike Huckabee came out immediately after the shooting on Fox News and claimed it wouldn't have happened if we still allowed God in our schools. GOP tools showing off their lack of class for the whole world to see.

@DonQuixotic @Sue_N I keep trying to imagine how painful and infuriating and insulting it must be for the families in Sandy Hook, Aurora, etc., to hear elected officials stand up and say, "My right to own a gun is more important than your child's life. So just suck it up and go pray."

Today Barack Obama announced 23 executive actions he will take to better enforce gun regulation. He called on Congress to pass legislation to approve universal background checks, ban military-style assault weapons, limit magazines to 10 rounds, and name Todd Jones Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Superb. The public supports you Mr. President, no matter how loud the vocal minority of gun manufacturer lemmings scream and howl.

@DonQuixotic It is a very good plan, and wonderfully comprehensive. What I really like is the part that addresses insurance coverage of mental health care. That's a crucial piece.
I'm also delighted he's taking every executive action he can and end-running Congress wherever possible. Use the power of your office for good, sir. And screw the obstructionists on the right.

Our President won the election by a popular vote margin larger than the total membership in the NRA. For the NRA money matters more than people .They are about profiteering from gun sales, and not supporting these reasonable efforts to protect our pursuit of life, liberty and happiness. Our President has clearly pointed this out, and a majority of us reasonably minded Americans agree.
