The push for appointing Barney Frank for John Kerry’s Senate seat seems to be moving forward in earnest up here in Massachusetts. However, it’s hard to argue with Time Magazine’s Joe Klein that, due to his negligence in overseeing Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac, and the role that played in the housing bubble and resulting financial collapse of 2008, he doesn’t deserve the appointment. As Klein so astutely points out, if liberals value their government programs, then they should make sure they’re run correctly and not be rewarded for incompetence when they don’t.
