 Americans

have short memories. Some think Obama crashed the economy and passed the

bailout some time after 2009. And that he got us off to losing lots of jobs and

has blocked a recovery by growing government.

The reality:

-We were losing -788,000 jobs a month when he took

over (over 3/4 of a milion jobs 4 straight months before). Now we are growing

jobs. We have now created over 4 million private sector jobs http://money.cnn.com/2012/08/0...

-The recession started in 2007 after 7 years of a

repub admin and repub congress. Recessions take several years of bad policies

to create. Eventually, there was a complete crash. And bailout of everything by

2008. Bush asked for and signed the bailout. Cheney went to Congress begging

that it be passed or his admin would experience "Hoover" time. The

repub candidate suspended his campaign just to pass it. Lyin Ryan voted for it

(as he did for all of Bush's big spending).

-GDP drop in Q4 2008 was -8.4%. Now positive

-Down was just over 6000 when Obama took over. Now

over 13000

-Eleven banks were closing a day when this admin

took over and banks were not even lending to each other. GM would have been

shut since no one would have given them credit if the government did not, as

Switch Mitt advised. That would have additionally wiped out over 2million jobs

in auto and allied industry accelerating towards a depression

-It took over 10 years to get out of the depression.

By 2009, the metrices for job losses and GDP drop was steeper than any

recession and only comparable to the depression, but many either forget how bad

it worse or expected the current admin would have waved a wand and fixed it in

two. They nearly did. But were constrained since 2010 the President has not

been able to pass a single initiative since. The current Congress also

implemented austerity measures prematurely (which was the response in Europe to

a worse recovery than we experienced).

-Government has been growing smaller actually

through Obama's term -- 2.8%

paulie the coward's new hero - Bank fraud, credit card fraud, identity thief, and parole violator.

---------------------------------

"Nakoula, whose name has been widely linked to the film in media reports, pleaded guilty to bank fraud in 2010 and was sentenced to 21 months in prison, to be followed by five years on supervised probation, court documents showed.

He was accused of fraudulently opening bank and credit card accounts using Social Security numbers that did not match the names on the applications, a criminal complaint showed. He was released in June 2011 and the film was produced later

that summer.

The terms of Nakoula's release restrict him from accessing the Internet or assuming aliases without the approval of his probation officer."

WASHINGTON: A Salafist cleric in Egypt is calling for the

deaths of all those involved in the making of an anti-Muslim film that

has outraged the Islamic world, SITE Intelligence Group said on Monday.

In a statement, the terrorism monitoring service said Ahmad Fouad

Ashoush issued his fatwa, or religious edict, against the cast and crew

of " Innocence of Muslims" via jihadist internet forums over the

weekend.

"Those bastards who did this film are belligerent disbelievers," Ashoush said, according to SITE's translation of the lengthy Arabic statement.

"Belligerent disbelievers" are infidels at war with Islam. The Qur'an

prescribes their punishments: "This is the recompense of those who

fight against God and His Messenger, and hasten about the earth, to do

corruption there: they shall be slaughtered, or crucified, or their

hands and feet shall alternately be struck off; or they shall be

banished from the land...." (5:33)

"I issue a fatwa and call on the Muslim youth in America and

Europe to do this duty, which is to kill the director, the producer and

the actors and everyone who helped and promoted the film," he said.

"So, hurry, hurry, O Muslim youth in America and Europe, and teach those filthy lowly ones a lesson that all the monkeys and pigs in America and Europe will understand. May Allah guide you and grant you success."...

Mitt Romney’s really stuck his foot in it when he declared that the 47

percent of Americans who, because they pay no federal income taxes and

receive government benefits, can’t be dislodged from the Democratic

column. The statement was wrong in 47 different ways. People who worked

all their life and now subsist primarily on Social Security aren’t

looking for a handout, and have not demonstrated an unwillingness to be

responsible. The same holds for people who are on Medicare. And ditto

for all the working poor, who would be paying income taxes if

Republicans hadn’t invented and supported the Earned Income Tax Credit.

What’s more, plenty of people who do pay income taxes rely on

entitlements. Mitt Romney may not need Medicare, but even well off

people in their 60s would be hard-pressed to buy their own insurance.

charlieromeobravo,

"The GOP doesn't have the monopoly on self sufficiency that they like to portray."

=========================================

The GOP is the opportunity party. The Democrats are the redistributionist party.

charlieromeobravo
charlieromeobravo

That's a bumper sticker, not an answer.  There are plenty of registered Republicans on welfare, food stamps, and other forms of government aid.  There are plenty of GOP politicians that do the same,  that denounced the Recovery America Act in one minute and dipped into the money for their state's slice of the funds the next.  Red states make up the majority of states that get back more in federal aid than they pay out in taxes.  So if by "opportunity" you mean take advantage of our government while simultaneously denouncing its' practices, yes, the GOP is very opportunistic.

paulejb

It may be simple but it's accurate. Republicans advocate maximum liberty and free enterprise. Democrats advocate government dependency.

Romney's vacant, posturing view

of the world is born from his utter lack of experience and confidence, thus his

reliance on those same neocon ideologues that forged the disastrous Bush/Cheney

foreign policies. American citizens who consider themselves patriotic were

absolutely stunned that an an American politician running for president would

hold secret meetings in Israel and then return to announce those same warped

neocon policies all over again-- those same policies that we have been trying

to reverse for the last four years.

There is no need to speculate--all we have to do is

look around us now, without the filter of any ideology other than that of our

founding fathers', to see the devastation the neocons wrought upon this country

during their 8 years-plus of control of our government and the Pentagon.

To trust these men with our government again is to

risk the annihilation of our republic and everything we hold as an 'American

Value'.

We simply cannot share our government with that of

Israel's or any other country's--we most definitely do not share their vision

because we have our own unique 'American Vision', separate from Europe's and

separate from the Middle East's. We can help to protect and defend our allies

within reason, but we cannot allow them to shape both our internal political

structure and our foreign policy--this is suicide to America and our way of

life.

  On

Obama's balance sheet:

+ affordable healthcare for all Americans + jobs are available for all who are willing to

+ protections for young immigrants who have been

working on behalf of USA

+ gay/human rights take a large step forward

+ gays serving openly in the military

+ new housing starts moving upwards

+ DOMA is effectively demolished

of the gargantuan mess created and left to him by the previous incompetent

In less than 4 years, he has managed to accomplish

Obama creates Osamas with new campaign slogan:  We don't torture, we vaporize.

The fact that the administration is carrying out state-sponsored

assassination with absolutely no regard to legal due process in the name

of fighting Al-Qaeda is particularly brazen given the fact that the US has backed Al-Qaeda terrorists in both Libya and Syria in the effort to overthrow Colonel Gaddafi and Bashar Al-Assad.

“In the USA, it is illegal to impose executions on people under 18,

something that most Democrats would support, I suppose. Yet, their

vaunted president, Barack Obama, has declared that a 17-year-old girl is

to be gunned down if American spies can find her,” writes Bill Anderson.
