In my print column this week, I argue that it’s time for the Democrats to abandon identity politics.
Answer me this: If the Republican party is an inclusive party, why did they not caption the convention? There are 46 million Americans with hearing loss who depend on captioning to get information.
The party of President Obama has consistently captioned videos in his three and a half years. The video on the White House website is consistently captioned. The DNC will be captioned.
Why are the Republicans overlooking a fairly large number of Americans(and their families)? Something as easy as providing captioning is winning the Democratic party some grateful and diehard fans.
I am a conservative christian and I was going to vote for Romney until I started hearing disturbing things, including this little bit:
Now that the media has looked at Romney's taxes, and every other detail of his life, can we ask Obama why he sealed his records? What is Barry hiding? His name? His grades? Who paid his way through college? What? His writings?
What are you babbling about?
Rmoney has released one (partial) return.

GOP in unexplored negative territory, following Ryan and the convention.

Wow, the right-wingers are in a total froth here. I can't get through the first page of posts without imagining the spittle flying and the fists clenched in rage. OFF! MY! LAWN!
I was thinking the same thing; like they're trying very very hard to convince everyone - there's an awful lot of posts here saying nothing - well, stories that say nothing.
I am not sure i see spittle, so much as children jumping up and down with their hands raised, screaming, i'm here, i'm here.
I really should try harder to have more patience with them. We are in a historic moment in history, I think. Times are changing. Things have to change in order for humanity to survive and thrive. Society can change peacefully, or there can be a lot of blood involved. I hope that we are intelligent enough as a species to move forward with minimal damage. People--especially older folks who can't envision a future so different from the past they've lived through--are afraid. And people in fear lash out. It's understandable, and a more honorable person than I would talk softly to them and try to convince them to think and grow and just enjoy the ride to the future.
But eff that. It's just so much more fun to poke them instead.
Paulebj has been spoutting about an article about how new jobs are lower wages trying to imply this is Obama's fault . here's part of that article he conveniently left out .
Since 2001, employment has grown 8.7 percent in lower-wage occupations and 6.6 percent in high-wage ones. Over that period, midwage occupation employment has fallen by 7.3 percent.
first thing you should know this is it says "since 2001" . that means it was since bush took office . second thing to know it is that the higher wage jobs have increased as well as the bottom wage jobs . this explains perfectly the income disparity and why middle class wages have been stagnant FOR TWO DECADES! . what we've lost is the middle class . what paulebj has inadvertently done is prove MY POINT THAT I'VE POSTED MANY TIMES! the top percentages are having their wages increase while the poor are loosing wages and this income disparity is wiping out the middle class . please everyone here feel free to spread this around the block and with a heartfelt thanks to Paulebj for helping make our case for us .
I assume when paul spouts this stuff that it means that he plans to join OWS. How can you complain about stagnant working-class wages without noting that the accounts of those in the top 1% are getting fatter and fatter? Why, it's just intellectually bankrupt to note the one point but not the other.
Spambot is a moron.
He is simply not capable of anything more than spouting the propaganda written for the willfully ignorant.

Azera has a really good idea that the Democrats can use at their convention . take that same debt clock that they had up and start taking off the amount that is not Obama's fault . as he points out that include how much of that that that has come just from the economy being down which is do mostly to the banking fiasco the GOP wanted all along by deregulating . and even though the Republicans don't like us giving them blame a large part of that is because our economy stalled do to Bush's war and high fuel prices at cetera . the graph that he gives that will be listed below shows how much also out debt is accumulating because of the unfunded war an d mostly Bush tax cuts . basically 80 plus percent of the deficit clock attributable to democratic Administration would be gone. any Obama organizer should consider starting with the current debt and start dropping off the amounts that are attributable to Republican policies. then have the sign flash alternately between Republican percentage and Democrat percentage .
In picture form, show the debt clock with Boehner, Ryan, et al beneath it, with the words "We built this."
Perfect! So who has convention connections? A popular comedian to narate amounts atributed to debt by GOP would prob be best. Ryan will be campaign so he's out. No forget, that, someone like Morgan freeman (clints movie bud) and he can end saying, "there GOP that's your "Trillion dollar baby".

Sad really,
1. TARP was a GWB initiative.
2. Incoherent reply to this: http://www.american.com/graphi...
3. Typically Democrat - Who cares who's paying, I've got mine!
1. TARP I was a Democratic initiative that GWB didn't want to sign until the political pressure became too powerful to resist, and was shared with Obama. TARP II was Obama all the way.
53_3 -- 4, paulejb 0
2. I wasn't talking about where the taxes came from. I was talking about Obama trying to balance the budget and getting stymied by the GOP each time. They held the country hostage over taxes for the super rich.
53_3 -- 5, paulejb 0
3. Young people need to have skins in this game, too. Young people get hurt too so making them get medical insurance lightens the burden on hospitals because they don't have medically indigent young people to care for.
53_3 -- 6, paulejb 0
You're not doing very good, even when you do endthread....
53_3,
1. TARP was a GWB and Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson production. Democrats, including backbencher Barack Obama, merely signed on to it.
2. Budget? What budget? Obama's last two budgets couldn't get even one vote in the Congress. Not even socialist Bernie Sanders could stomach what Obama was serving up. And the Democrats in the Congress haven't come up with a budget in three years.
3. Young people have been stuck with a no job economy, endless payments for entitlements from which they are unlikely to benefit and $16 trillion in debt. All young people have left is the faded posters.

What are Joe Klein's thoughts on this?
Think Barry Hussein Soetoro-Obama is on Israel's side? Think again...
"Exclusive: U.S. Scales-Back Military Exercise with Israel, Affecting Potential Iran StrikeSeven months ago, Israel and the United States postponed a massive joint military exercise that was originally set to go forward just as concerns were brimming that Israel would launch a strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. The exercise was rescheduled for late October, and appears likely to go forward on the cusp of the U.S. presidential election. But it won’t be nearly the same exercise. Well-placed sources in both countries have told TIME that Washington has greatly reduced the scale of U.S. participation, slashing by more than two-thirds the number of American troops going to Israel and reducing both the number and potency of missile interception systems at the core of the joint exercise.
“Basically what the Americans (Obama) are saying is, ‘We don’t trust you,’” a senior Israeli military official tells TIME.
The reductions are striking. Instead of the approximately 5,000 U.S. troops originally trumpeted for Austere Challenge 12, as the annual exercise is called, the Pentagon will send only 1,500 service members, and perhaps as few as 1,200. Patriot anti-missile systems will arrive in Israel as planned, but the crews to operate them will not. Instead of two Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense warships being dispatched to Israeli waters, the new plan is to send one, though even the remaining vessel is listed as a “maybe,” according to officials in both militaries.
U.S. commanders privately revealed the scaling back to their Israeli counterparts more than two months ago. The official explanation was budget restrictions. But the American retreat coincided with growing tensions between the Obama and Netanyahu administrations on Israel’s persistent threats to launch an airstrike on Iran. The Islamic Republic would be expected to retaliate by missile strikes, either through its own intermediate range arsenal or through its proxy, the Hizballah militia, which has more than 40,000 missiles aimed at Israel from neighboring Lebanon.
