The electric reception Walker received when he took the stage showed the respect he commands. But soaring oratory is not his strength. His cadence was flat and his speech never got the crowd on its feet. As he trumpeted his reforms in Wisconsin, delegates fell silent and thumbed through their phones. But Walker played to his brand — having the guts to make tough economic reforms — and pivoted nicely to a strong endorsement of Romney and Ryan.
